Natural Born Rivals - 2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe vs Audi A5 Coupe

We have looked at the F32 4 Series Coupe against the E92 3 Series Coupe (comparison pics), now let's look at how the 4 Series Coupe looks against its most direct competitor in the marketplace - the Audi A5 Coupe.

Compared to the A5 Coupe, the 4 Series Coupe in concept form is:

+ 0.6 inches (16mm) length
- 1.8 inches (28mm) width
- 0.5 inches (12mm) height
+ 2.3 inches (59mm) wheelbase

Note: these are calculated using concept (not production) 4 Series dimensions.

As for the aesthetics, well, that's subjective of course, but we think that overall (except maybe the front end, which still isn't totally clear in the spy photos) the F32 looks sportier and more athletic than the A5.

They both look nice but I favor BMW over Audi since the 70's, (showing my age).

Both very handsome machines, but I'd bet the BMW drives better have to wait for the reviews

It's hard to pick Audi over the competition. Their designs are nice but their lines are too soft and it gets old and boring quick.

4 series wins by a huge margin in my opinion at every angle. They better, A5 came out like 6 years ago.
Besides, Audi design generally bores me to death. Check out the A5 shoulder lines. WTF?

I always like exterior design of A5 over E92 but their refresh on exterior made it fugly now.

A4/A5/A6/A8 are so blend and uninspiring...Only good looking car they have now is A7/Q5/R8 IMO.

I don't want to sound like a BMW fanboy right now, but is there really any other car in its segment that competes with the f32? It looks completely ahead of it's time in my honest opinion

The one area on the F32 that really bugs me is how the bumper juts out below the tail-lights.

It's an evolution given the car is bigger than the E92 but very much understated look compared to the E92. In person may look different. The photos, especially at night time may not be doing justice to this car. My 2c.

I agree with this ^. Another thing...the rear roof/window/pillar and deck lid design seems odd. I'm sure I'll get used to it...but for now it reminds me of a 1994 Mazda MX-6...meh

I've always like Audi's they make a great product however the A5/S5 and RS5 have the most boring sides of just about anything Audi makes. Front and rear look OK but those sides are just slabs. So far the 4 series is looking much better IMHO

Yeah, it almost like they are trying to make the fenders less pronounced.

I think of the comparison is more along the lines of the new Mercedes C Class Coupe
