BMW introduced a bug in 2015_1 NBT (the bug could have been introduced in earlier version as well) and that bug existed in 2015_2 NBT as well. That bug affects folks in the Seattle area or anyone driving to this area. Essentially, the bug will prevent the navigation system from routing you to the 520 bridge to cross Lake Washington. Instead, it will route you to the I-90 bridge even if the route across the 520 bridge will be shorter and faster. I don't want to pay for the 2016_1 NBT map if the bug is in that version as well.

So for those in the US with the 2016_1 NBT map installed, do you mind performing this test for me? Set up your navigation system to go to multiple destinations:

1. 3099 156th Ave NE, Redmond WA
2. 1959 NE Pacific St, Seattle WA

Does your navigation system take you across the highway 520 bridge (aka Evergreen bridge) or I-90 when going from destination #1 to destination #2?

I have the same issue: the navigation system refuses to route me through the exit of the PA Turnpike closest to my home. Going from 2015-2 to 2016-1 did not help.

Thanks for taking the time to test this. Now we don't have to waste our time and/or money to update to the 2016_1 maps. I got the word from BMW NA they won't be paying the dealers to cover the cost of updating to a version of maps with the fix, even though it was BMW that introduced the bug. When i bought my F31 back in 09/2013, it came with 2014_1 and i didn't have this problem until after i updated the maps to 2015_1.

That is interesting: I thought that the issue was with the navigation software rather than with the maps.

I use the term "maps" in general, so it may include the Nav software. Are the navigation software updated along with mapping data when one installs newer BMW Nav maps, for example, when going from 2015_1 to 2015_2?

Shawn will know this better, but my understanding is that map updates are just that. The navigation software is part of the head unit firmware.

The exit of the PA Turnpike I have near my home is a bit tricky because it is one of those exits that have no ticket boots and only accept the transponder (EZ Pass), but neither Waze nor Tom Tom have any issues with that.

No. That means you have CHAMP2 Head Unit, an not CIC, so you need Move 2016 Map.
