Are they THAT much bigger than a 5 series? Might be interested if the deals are that good.

Only 7cm longer than G30 5 series, but that is already a very long car!

Standard UK parking spaces are 4.8m long and these are 4.93m & 5m respectively.

I got a great deal on a 640D last year. Just chopping it in for an M2. Loved having it, but the M deal is a good one. Just beware the size of the six...... it’s pretty big. But, it’s lovely inside, and pretty quick.

6 is the same width as a 4 series, oddly enough

Overall is about 40cm longer.

Not looked that closely at a 6-series but from memory aren't the rear seats unsuitable for adults over anything other than a relatively short journey? If so that's 40cm longer and 7cm wider than a 4-series but with less usable space inside (and presumably in a car that weighs more as well?).

I'm sure the cabin's very nice for those sitting in the front but unless you spend most of your time in the car on your own cruising up and down motorways and dual carriageways I struggle to see the attraction personally - each to their own though!

Nice cars but frustrating, given the size of it, that you can only fit 2 in the back.

I think the 6 series is a lovely GT car, lovely inside, low, wide and sleek.

Some good deals to be done a think a convertible 650i would be fantastic to have in the recent weather.

At this sort of price, the cost of 3 year ownership might not be very different to a new high end F3x. It's clearly got a bit of a drink habit, but depreciation is a much bigger factor than fuel.

Neither me nor the missus have had problems parking either the 6 or the 5gt anywhere to be honest. Yeah they're big cars, but really doesn't make any difference provided you have a vague sense of spatial awareness.

Think my volvo s80 is use for work is probably a similar size and doesn't have any parking aids! Lol!

Speaking of which, seen plenty of this new volvo saloons and estates about, they seem to manage OK and they really are land yachts.

My cousin has one and I get the impression they're stacked with all the latest self-parking technology (hers certainly is). However, effective though it may be for cruising motorways and dual carriageways, it's not where you'd go if you want something that's fun to punt along a twisty A or B-road.

Appreciate it's all horses for courses but that's why I don't quite get the 6-series; IMO they're too big and unwieldy to be fun on the twisty bits yet despite their size they're not much good for carrying people and luggage if there's more than one passenger. Therefore, for me it's a car that falls between two stools but appreciate others think differently!

I don't really have many roads round my way that are traffic, speed camera and police free to enjoy driving for the sake of driving, nor the time to indulge really.

A bit like the 5 series, the 6 handles surprisingly well for its size and weight.

Seems a common misconception that large cars don't handle well enough to be any fun.

Not sure why people think the 6er doesn't handle as well as a 3/4er?

It's the only way (as far as I am aware) that you can get the 35/4d engine with Sdrive.

Its what sold it to me.

I recently had my 640d gran coupe nicked hence now have a 430d gran coupe. Have to say the 640 was an amazing car. Yes, huge, but vastly superior to the 430 which feels very cheap in comparison. Don't get me wrong I still like the 430 but there's no comparison to a 6 series. Even in a 430d it feels slow when compared to the 6. 430 much more of a drivers car but you get the idea where my allegiances lie!

aye, the diesel nazis seem to have scared BMW off.

40d engine available in the new X4 but not the X3. Not in the 5 series either.....

I'd like to have the engine again, but not buying an X4 to get it

+1, I had a 640D loaner when my 335d was in for alloy repair

Awesome car, surprisingly nimble, more so than my bloaty 335d (still on factory springs though), every aspect was a step up which I guess you'd expect from a car that is £70k+ list ? but at current prices are a bargain, I'd choose one over an F30 in a heartbeat

Only thing I didn't like was the way the windscreen is angled, too much reflection of the dash, also feels a bit narrower than an F30 ? I could just be me...

I’ve just come from a 640d GC which I had for 4 years. Yes it’s a huge car, and I mean huge, as long as a Full on Range Rover! But the build quality and finish was superior no doubt. That car had a list of £74k and I got it brand new for £52k I owed £21k when I sold it and I got just over £20k for it, so yes they lose money but it was a lovely car and great looking, could have done with a bit more power but that’s easy sorted

Perhaps the angle on the screen helps a little though, as given the 640 has 30k on it, and my 435 had 22k, the windscreen on the 6 is far, far less speckled with stone chips. The 435 looks like it had been shot blasted!
