Are stock halogen headlights projectors or reflectors?

Can’t seem to find this answer anywhere. Can someone please tell me if stock halogen headlights on 2015 F30’s are projectors or reflectors?

I just purchased the Phillips kit for the low beams but I’m also looking for a better fog light alternative.

I went with these for my low beams... some other members have had good reviews on them.

Looking for LED fogs as well... I'm seeing tons of plug and play options (much like the parking and DRL)

Can anyone recommend a quality H8 LED fog replacement bulb that has a very white (not blue) appearance?

Please don't put HIDs in a reflector housing. It will blind other drivers.

I did this on one of my other cars and it was awful. Yes, they are very bright, but they throw light everywhere. I wound up doing a projector retrofit with parts from the retrofit source. It came out very nice, but it's a quite a bit of work and involves baking you headlights in the oven to separate the lens from the body.

LEDs should work nicely though in your stock housings, I would think.

I believe another member recently posted a thread about an aftermarket projector housing that looked very nice, in my opinion.

Looking for some decent projector headlights that won’t break the bank. Looking for DIPOS but they’re never in stock and if they are, they’re costing more than they should.

That depends on the bulb. Whether LED or HID the lighting element must be in the same position in the reflector as the filament of a halogen bulb. Some are, some aren't. It's less critical with a projector, since the projector lens does most of the beam focusing.

Good point. Just my experience with HIDs in reflector housings.

I found the opposite to be true. My 70 bone LEDs had me almost driving blind in the rain, while I have yet to be flashed a single time since switching to my $45 hids. They have been an outstanding improvement in visibility coupled with my LED fogs (the led fogs do really well on the periphery, but dont reach out like the hids). You can aim them just like halogens, and I assure you they perform excellent for the price. It really depends on the application though; HIDs were not good in my chevy gmt900 reflector housings...

Thanks TX,

In your defense, you've given us that info before (I should have searched)!
