Anyone had crashing suspension sounds?
I have the 330d with the adaptive suspension, VSS and msport breaks currently on 18 inch wheels (winters).
Most of the time the new 330d is a really comfortable ride, even in sport mode. Much more comfortable than the e92 was, even though in winter I ran that on 16 inch normal tyres. However, I have had a couple of times where I've gone over something like a minor dent in the road, or a speed bump going slowly and I've had a loud bang from the suspension and it feels like it is completely solid just for this moment. Then immediately it is back to its lovely comfortable ride with no signs of any problems. Could this just be the adaptive suspension getting it completely wrong sometimes? Has anyone else with this setup experienced anything similar? Thanks |

Thanks Teaston, I hadn't noticed that thread. However, that is nothing like what I am seeing.
Most of the time there is no noise from the suspension even going over speed bumps. But very occasionally I can go over a bump and it is like the rear passenger side suspension has just locked to solid with no give. It is a scary experience and feels like you have just fallen down a giant pothole. But it is really rare. Only happened three times now in over two months. |

Does this thread help?
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=934737 Try putting it into sport over speed bumps. My hypothesis was that the electronic damper gets confused over a bump and over compensates. I might be talking bollocks though |

Yes it I does!!
That is exactly my experience. Oh well, perhaps it isn't a fault on my car then. Didn't want to have it in to BMW for weeks for them to not be able to find anything, especially since I would have to remove my Pro Nav retrofit first. Many thanks. |

I remember going over a manhole cover that was a bit lower than the road, it sounded like the wheel had no tyre on it and I was sure I'd broken a wheel, but everything was fine
