Exhaust Upgrade for 335i

So i know this topic has been discussed but want a fresh opinion. With the 340i coming out my baby needs a little love. I have Stage 1 and now its time to address the exhaust and possibly springs.

My car is an MSport. Do you think the MPE is enough of an upgrade? I don't want anything too loud. Is the difference in sound measurable in the cabin or only while videoing from 6 inches away with an iphone?

If not MPE I was considering the Borla S Type. Want to keep the costs reasonable.

Opinions welcome. Thanks in advance!

All depends on you're definition of loud. Mpe is a nice balance of sound, oem looks and you know it will always fit and work.

Having the MPPK I installed the MPE about a week ago. I notice an increase in the sound (~30 percent IMO) from within the interior at all the times when I want to and I don't hear it at the times when I don't want to. No drone and wind noise becomes the predominant sound at hwy speeds anyways. Nobody wants a fart can of an exhaust.

I like the sound on overrun but it's accentuated by the MPPK. I should've ordered it with the car but I wasn't sure. I'm taking a long weekend trip today so that will give the exhaust more time to season.

I'm on the hunt as well, also considering the MPE. I looked at Borla but it seems too 'aggressive', which translates to 'pissing off the neighbors' - the ATAK definitely.

The other option is DINAN freeflow. But it has the disclaimer: "Factory computer-controlled exhaust valve is eliminated." Which I assume is basically a factory sanctioned golf tee mod?

MPE gives a nice distinct exhaust note without it being too loud in the cabin or obnoxiously loud when standing outside.

I've gotten plenty compliments from friends on the exhaust note.

I'm looking into this. Thanks for bringing to my attention. Now to decide Mid pipe or no mid pipe?

I've got the 335i with MPE exhaust installed. At roughly 9k miles I can tell you that unless you are in the throttle for over 50% you can not hear it at-all. Very nice sound from outside the car or when you have the windows down, but if i could do it again i would ABSOLUTELY go Borla w/electronic baffle.

Couldn't agree more....the Borla is fantastic and its a full catback as an added bonus.

This is Fact! You have to roll down the windows to enjoy the exhaust note.
My wife drove off quickly with my car the other day and I thought damn the exhaust sounds good. I am a huge fan of the no drone but wish it was louder at times.

We offer the MPE exhaust but in all honesty i do not think it is worth the price.
if you are looking for an axle back with good price, get the Active Autowerke or Remus axle back.
If you want a complete system Remus catback, GTHaus and AWE are really good options.

It's been a while since I have modded my car and I started considering the MPE. I want a slight upgrade to the stock. If money isn't an issue and I only want a minor upgrade, is it a decent mod? The lack of black tips is an issue for me. Thanks!

I have the MPE upgrade, I like it but just test drove the M3 and I like that sound even more. Wish the n55 with MPE was just a bit louder. You could get carbon tips for MPE, but really expensive...

Do you have the MPPK? Having the MPPK and MPE the overrun in sport mode is hilarious. I have over 1k miles on this exhaust and it has gotten a little deeper for sure.

Something to keep in mind. There's no such thing as the "best" sounding exhaust. Like music everyone has likes and dislikes so it boils down to cost and whether you like the sound.

Drone on the other hand is a different matter. You either have it or not. IMO the degree of drone is irrelevant.

I appreciate the feedback! I would get the CF tips since I have black trim and black grills on my car.

I have PPK. The modding itch came back and the MPE is the only thing that I can upgrade (I have the M Perf Suspension and a few other items).

I definitely want to stay away from drone. I should have waited until 2014 and purchased the M3...
