N20 420i ECU tuning to match 428?
Hi guys.
I found a shop in Sydney (BMR Autowerks) that offers two levels of tune for the 420i, a 428 Tune and a 428+ Tune - here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1140025 The stock 420 dyno'd at 117.5rwkw, and the 428+ tuned 420i dyno'd at 172.9rwkw. My question is how safe will the 428+ tune be in your opinions? I'm just worried that my 420i engine will wear out a lot faster if i got the 428+ tune compared to the standard 428 tune. I think the only difference in the 20/28 engine is the compression ratio and the 28 has forged pistons. I don't know much about tuning, do you guys think the power levels of the 428+ tune would be safe for the 420i or should i stay safe and get the standard 428 tune? Currently have around 30K miles since i bought car in 2014, car is stock - no mods at all. Thank you. |

If i were you i would give BMR Autowerks call or shoot them a message. They are pretty reputable. If you live close, i would stop in the shop. Life expectancy will depend on what you using your car for and keeping your car well maintained. Read around in the forum there plenty of good info in here.
