Trying to install the ASD in my car with the Hi-Fi amp, but seems most shops aren't knowledgeable enough to do it. Just wondering if anyone had success in getting it retrofitted by an independent installer?

You need to find out first if you can code an ASD module in an F30 that old that did not come with it.

I have read up on all the posts, but would rather have someone with knowledge to install it, instead of me going in the trunk and tearing up the wiring harness and the KCAN2 line.

It will look difficult if you never tried it before, my myself thought this.
just get in the back of ur trunck if you have an amplifier, if you dont have one just plug the ASD near the headunit.
see which wire goes to which, remove the plug, remove the pin slowly and wisely, attach to the other socket, do all the wirings in a neat and tidy way, then. voila just code and you will find it really amazing to play in ur car urself.

Probably easiest would be to look under Esys and see if you have an entry for ASD since depending on your audio configuration, there may or may not be an ASD module in the trunk.
