Help downloading Sirius

How do you download the Sirius from the flashdrive (which was provided to me from the dealer)? Do I just install it in the port and then do a software update from the I-drive?

I have literally no clue what you're talking about. Sirius would be installed in the car from the factory. Or retrofitted if required, but it's not software based. You can find it in your radio menu if you have it. Anything that you would be putting in the USB port would be either a system update or a Maps update.

Update: Apparently on the F30's it's just an FSC code to input. That's if you have the SA693 option to begin with though.

Well, I'm totally out of my element here. The car has Sirius prep and it didn't work as promised when I picked up the car in GA. To not have me go to the dealer in Miami and pay $400 to have it installed, they sent me a cable and a flash drive to install it myself. No instructions with it so.....here I am.

I suppose I will call them on Monday and ask unless someone knows how to do it. I'm hoping you guru's would know.

Thanks.

Have you tried plugging the flash drive into your computer to see if there's software you have to install in order to connect the cable to your car?

I did plug it in and waited to see if the computer prompted me to do anything. It did not. I did not want to do a software update until I got confirmation that is what I should do. Hense my post here. I didn't want to take a chance (a $400 chance) of possibly erasing the flashdrive.

If the car is prompting you for a software update when you plug the flash drive into the glovebox usb port, then let it do its thing. You'd have to format the drive in order to lose anything. If you're running Windows, check under My Computer to see if the flash drive popped up as a removable device as the program might not be set to autorun. Otherwise I'd just wait to hear back from the dealer with instructions.

I plugged it In the center console and not glove box. Maybe that is the problem?

Yes, try the glove box USB port and give it a minute for the car to recognize it.

That didn't work either. I have since spoken with the saleman who sent me the flashdrive and he explained that the flashdrive has the code but it must be installed at the dealer. I guess I misunderstood and thought it was something I could do myself.

If you want to save yourself a trip to a dealership we can do it for you remotely.
Just in case you haven't paid them yet
