B48 replacement of end cover with gasket
96,000 km
I have a leaking end cover gasket 11117797932 (both of them). The dealership doesn't have them so I bought them over the internet ,, and was told by the dealership that I'll need to seal them with a loctite 83190404517 Liquid Sealant. Dropped the car at my friend's garage , found out that one of them had a missing part of the gasket , But he told me the Loctite isn't needed. He just sprayed some silicon spray over the new one's gasket and pushed them in. Any idea about the proper procedure for its replacement ? Note: If any one knows what to search for over newtis I would be grateful |

Silicone spray makes for easy installation, but it won't do anything as far as sealing goes. If BMW says it needs sealant that's what you should do.

OP, curious if you needed the liquid sealant or if it's holding up okay without it. Mine are also leaking and I'm hoping I can do this myself.
Was it difficult to replace? Did you have to refill with more oil after? Also if you have more photos of the process that would help a lot! Thanks! Last edited by griff916; 05-03-2023 at 01:53 PM.. |

I found this post while looking for info on a X1. Same plugs are leaking and if the 3 series is anything like the X1, it seems like there just isnt a very good way to access these without removing the pipe that runs off the turbo to the intercooler. I'm guessing I could use a long pick or something without worrying about destroying it. New one should pop right in. Dealer quoted 6 hours!
