Coding in Toronto/GTA

New to this forum. Recently picked up a used 2014 F30 335i drive for the winter after getting rid of my F10 m5.

Looking for someone reputable to do some coding in the GTA (I did searched the forum and didn't come up with anything)

Thanks

Curious as well - looking for some simple changes to my 435xi - folding mirrors, etc.

Coding in GTA

Could I ask, what are the type of things that owners might ask someone to "code"? And, is there a risk that coding might affect the BMW warranty?

For example, I own a heavily optioned 2014 435Xi coupe (M Package, M Sport brakes, HUD, driver assist, etc.). No M Performance Package.

I have 'dynamic' LED headlights, although the system does not have the full dynamic functionality that is programmed into European 435s.
Could a "coder" program that LED functionality?

Here is a list I've compiled of options that most people opt to code into their vehicles:

Change Angel Eye brightness (parking/DRL and when Low beams are on)
Change Triple Blinkers to any amount
Change Emergency Brake Light from Inner Light to Flashing
Turn off amber side marker on headlights
Fold mirrors with comfort access or key fob
Roll up windows with key fob
Auto start stop last user memory (or off)
Digital speedometer on instrument cluster
Remove Speedlock restriction for cameras, DVD and Owner's Manual
Luminating door handles when reversing (F32/F33 4 series)
Remove idrive legal disclaimer
Remove legal disclaimer for cameras
M performance logo on instrument cluster
Change start up animation on Navigation
Change sport gauges in iDrive from Orange to red and silver
Unlock doors when engine is turned off
Turn off Navigation and Radio when door is opened
Tail lights as DRL
Start car in Eco Pro mode
Disable/Change Active sound design to other models(Artificial Engine Noises)
Change startup emblem to M logo (For vehicles equipped with NBT navigation)
Change startup gong/pdc stereo set to Mini/BMW/Rolls Royce
Allow windows to roll up with door open
Enable Video Playback through USB (HU_NBT)

In regards to it affecting warranty, no it will not. Our cars come with these functionalities built in, and its just a matter of re-enabling them. For example, BMW cars in Europe CAN close the windows and fold mirrors by holding LOCK on the keyfob, but once the car's destination is North America, this feature is disabled for safety regulations which differ here.

As for the adaptive LED, I also have the LED headlights that are supposed to be "anti-dazzle" (move away from oncoming vehicles). This feature requires changing the vehicle order (VO) which can be done through coding as well, but is a little more complicated than the aforementioned list, but it can be done.

Hey DerekC

Did you figure out the coding for turning the display white as opposed to orange?

Hey Kevin, the white cluster is only possible if your f30/f32 has the option 6WA (extended display), meaning that during the daytime your instrument cluster illuminates white, as opposed to no lighting.

The coding change effectively makes it so that the daytime lights are always on, and do not turn orange at night. An issue with this is that its extremely bright and sharp to the eyes. From what I have gathered, most F30s do not have option 6WA and so it is not possible. I found some general information in this thread, take a look if you have the time!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or concerns so I can clarify!

Derek C,

Thanks, that was quite a list. It's a new world of automotive knowledge I've never delved into.

I may give some thought to coding for the 'European style' dynamic LED headlight functionality. I saw a BMW UK video on that feature and it looked like a useful safety feature -- especially on country roads.

Not sure I want to be first to try that coding.

If someone wanted to know how to code their own vehicle, is there a good way to learn that doesn't mean having to read through some of the super long threads in this forum? One has been ongoing since 2012 and is over 300 pages!

I bought my F30 last Summer and would like to have a go at doing it myself, but not without a solid understanding first.
