Sounds like you may have been in Eco Pro. If not I have no idea.

How long have you had your car?

My car did something similar, but I have the 8-speed. I had driven it for a thousand miles before the issue. I went to the store and when I got in my car to come home I got an error message saying something like “steering system failure, drive moderately”. I couldn’t switch between driving modes, use cruise control, and the rpm’s where limited even when using manual sport mode.

When I took it to the dealer they said that one of the control modules was not fully activated and that someone had “missed it” when they took delivery. Whether that is true or not I am not sure. The module had to do with DSC/DTC, not the actual steering of the car like implied by the message. They reset the fault, “finished” activating the module and I have not had a single issue since.

It sounds like you went into limp mode. There are a number of possibilities but you will need to have the dealer read the codes. Here's the rub - with your down pipe it is likely they will blame that for the limp mode (not an unrealistic explanation) and flag your car for warranty purposes. I wouldn't take it in unless it happens again. If it does, I would take the dp off and see if you can recreate the issue.

What octane gas are you running? Which brand of gas? What was the ambient temperature?

Yeah they probably will, if it happens again ill take it off and bring it their! I am using 93 octane but i got the car with regular because of the gas crisis we had in new york the past couple of weeks. So today was the 2nd time i filled the tank up with 93 octane. It runs 10x better.

So my best guess, based on the regular gas, is that the motor was detonating and the car went into limp mode to protect it. Hopefully you will be ok now.
