Crazy prices over here

Private sellers here want at least $600 for a stock 335i exhaust..

I got mine for about 275 euros shipped, regular 35i. Wasn't mentioned but I think I got the 335i instead of a 435i but it only takes a bit more welding to get it to fit and if needed some tie straps to get the tip heights to your liking ... Use the part number and look for eBay sellers located in Germany I found 2 or 3 at the time I was looking! So worth it!

i wonder if the duel sided exhausts are more of bmw wanting people to buy up to the 35i model rather than saving costs by only producing only duel sided exhausts for 28i and 35i cutting costs.

BMW has always traditionally have dual exit on the left side. Even E36 M3 had it. E46 M3 was the first time the quad center was used. V8 and V12 (2 manifolds) had it earlier. E9x was he first time 3 series had dual exit left and right due to n54 twin turbo set up.

I think it's Germans being Germans. questioning why the added weight?

Did you just cut the old exhaust and well the 435 mpe on? cuz i called the dealership and ask about the conversion and they said special modification is need for this

I did the conversion as well. You can weld it on. However, since there is a difference in diameter between the 428 exhaust the 435 exhaust, the exhaust shop has to make a piece that connects the two different pipe sizes. Its not a big deal. In my case, I did not want to weld because I wanted to be able to go back to stock if I wanted. I had the shop modify the muffler pipe and then I used the OEM clamp. I've had my exhaust for over 1.5 years now without any issues. For more info, check out my build thread in my signature.

Thanks for the reply, looked at your link. That looked more work than i thought it will. I was thinking i can just cut the old muffler, hang the 435 mpe up and clamp it down

In theory, that is all you have to do, but getting it to line up will take some time.
any good muffler shop should be able to take care of this rather easily.

To resurrect this thread,
I want to do this conversion on a 430i. Looking online all the hangers and active parts look identical and it's just a swap out with no other parts needed other than a clamp and new diffuser?
Is this correct?

Not sure if your muffler has flap regulated tips (probably not), aside from the fixing there shouldnt be any differences but the left side electric steered vent. You'll have to block it into open position.

Nonsens. Theres no need to equip a low powered car to looks like a bigger model from the same series. This thread is the proof that you 428ers would make look your car more than it is. Even its only a cosmetic item which has nothing to do with weight

Just checked on realoem and apart from muffler ALL other components are the same.
Actuators different on 430/440 to 428/435 so rules out a 435 muffler for me

If it wasn't for having to cut the pipe I'd probably do it for looks alone

I'd changed my whole exhaust after the half-clamp behind the cat...but I sold it meanwhile. Otherwise you were able to buy it and change just the whole pipe w/o cutting anything

428 to 440 exhaust conversion

I've seen several posters get it done but I need more information on how it can be done, how long it should take, and what extra parts if any would I need? Also if any Southern California people know which reputable place would be able to do this without a problem? I've already contacted a few shops and they said they were unsure. Any helpful information would be great, thanks
I am interested in getting a new exhaust for my 428i m-sport. I have been contemplating doing the 428-435 exhaust conversion. I have found a lightly used 440 msport muffler available online and was wondering if it would mount fine stock without modification in comparison to the 435 muffler. I dont know if they utilize the same exhaust hanger points or are even similar in size. Does anyone know if this will work? I dont want to buy something that I cant use. Thank you all for any insight that you can provide!!
