f31 318d lci remap
Good evening everyone
Is it true that 318d (110kw, 2016) and 320d (140kw) are almost the same under the hood and the main difference is in ecu? Local service says, that it can be remapped to 140kw (+30kw). What's your opinion on that? Is it safe/worth it ? 110kw is allright, but I would appreciate extra kick |

Not quite the lowest model, there is a 316d too
There are other differences between the 318d and 320d though. The turbo and injectors are definitely different and there might be other things too but it doesn't surprise me that a 318d could remap to near 320d performance. A 320d can go to about 165kw but that'll be because of the different turbo and injectors. |

Yup, there is 316d as well I wouldn't say that there is a total lack of power. It's just that remap is a cheap upgrade and a seems that a lot of people are doing it.
Zheez, thanks. So it sounds safe, right? |

Sure you could remap 318d to 320d stock power... Be careful to do this by some experienced tuner and that it backup your original map, just in case.
Also note that, especially if new map is not so high quality, it might lead to black smoke appearing under higher throttle, which could, in some countries where exhaust gases are measured on yearly registration testing, fail the test. |
