Gratuliere zum 200K-Kilometrigen Curry-Gewürztag!!

So what exactly do you mean by "*almost* 0 repairs"? What did you replace or repair?

I only hat to do Standard maintenance the only expensive one was the timing chain replacement at 195k kilometers and some sensores here and there but the Sensoren stuff came pretty early at around 100k kilometers

You and I have very different definitions of "almost no repairs". Having to replace timing chain is a nightmare for most owners, especially with the B48 since the location of the chain requires the entire engine to come out and labour cost and downtime can be significant.
On my E36 I reached 370k+ km and the chain was still tight, so having to replace the chain at 195k doesn't seem good at all to me.

With 70k on my 2018 B48 320i, I am hoping to go far beyond the 200k without the need to replace chain.

Why did you need to replace the chain? Was the issue with the tensioner or had the chain itself stretched? How often did you change the oil during those 195k km at what intervals? What did you pay for replacement? Did you go to a Freie Werkstatt (Independent) or to a dealer?

What sensors did you need to replace around 100k? Was that covered under warranty?

The sensores where still under warrenty but im not shure which sensores got replaced i need to Look at the paperwork. I replaced oil every 15k kilometers. My friend a Mechanik did the timing chain swap becouse it was to streched u could hear it ratteling quit loud and i didnt want to risk bigger engine damage. But Overall for 200k kilometers i think thats ok my e90 n52 cost me so mutch more money in only 160k kilometers

I am fairly certain, but in the US, 2016+ 320i's still had the N20 (we did not get a 420i), not sure if the same is for your part of the world.

I'm not super up-to-date on the engines, but I don't know if I have read about any timing chain failure on the B4X engines. So, are you sure you have a B48?

Thanks for the info! It is kind of worrying to me that your chain had already stretched at that mileage. Especially since it is supposed to last a lifetime. I also change oil every 15k km (twice as often as BMW prescribes in Europe) and I did not expect that to be an issue at only 200k km.

Well, I guess they don't make them like they used to anymore ... My E36 M43 engine was bulletproof. Never had any problems in 300k + km besides having to replace a DISA valve, an oil filter housing gasket, and some cooling system parts. Engine is still going strong with new owner (he dedicated an Instagram page to the car, so I can still follow it).

I've never heard of the B4x needing a timing chain replaced either. Granted I'm not a seasoned forum member but I've never read about it. I checked his VIN on mdecoder.com and it's definitely a B48.

Did you base the diagnosis that the chain had stretched purely on the noise?
I wonder what style of driving would accelerate chain stretch. Is it excessive engine braking? Sudden acceleration?
Indeed I too had never heard about chain being a problem either with B48. General consensus is that BMW learnt its' lessons from the N20 and N47 engines and upped it's game w/r chains.
