Is it just me, or is half this thread now missing?
Who moderates this forum? Have they no manners? It's just simple human courtesy to leave a note in a forum to say what's been deleted and why rather than just stealth-deleting posts which then confuse the whole issue by having phantom quotes, quoting posts that don't exist. C'mon guys ... show yourselves and 'fess up

It's not a stealth delete, more like cleaning up after a crime scene, then having neighbors two streets over complain that the clean up crew didn't personally knock on their door and spend 30 minutes telling them what they've been doing. |

This thread had rather quickly deteriorated into embarrassing garbage. I'm glad it's been cleaned up. The myopic megalomania spewed in some of the now-deleted posts are representative of a small minority of BMW owners that give other owners a bad name (though of course this is not unique to BMW).
I'm very new to this forum, so my feedback carries much less weight, but I'm still hoping for better. Much of what I had read previously had been generally good discussion; informative and helpful. I'm hoping things head back in that direction. And on that note, I'll reiterate what I stated earlier - the 335i is marketed to those that want more power. And that's hardly a bad thing. Wish I had it. It was mentioned earlier in this thread that the 328i could be tuned rather inexpensively to achieve similar power levels. That's very true, but if one is willing to tune, one could just as easily tune the 335i to higher power levels as well, so that point is moot. Unlike the richie-rich that posted previously, I don't mind admitting that I can't afford a 335i, so I bought what I could afford. The tuning option is an interesting one, provided it doesn't roast my engine along with my warranty. Why no PPK for the little engine, BMW? Last edited by S-Dot; 11-17-2012 at 07:35 PM.. |

Another significant factor in my purchase was the e90. The performance gap was too large between 328 and 335 and I would never have considered the 328 when I purchased my e90. I was always annoyed when my service loaner was a 328, it just didn't have the performance I liked so I was inclined to look at the 335 again when I was replacing my poor totaled e90, even though the 328 was much closer in performance than the previous generation. |

That's great news! As with the big brother, I'm sure the gains will probably be half that of the tuners (and the price probably double), but to keep my warranty intact for now has some value for me. |

Maybe the 335i is for those who want minimal delay in the delivery of their torque and a greater ability to powerslide :-P
I test drove the 328i again and compared to my supercharged car, lacks grunt at low rpm. Of course the engine comes alive at mid to high rpm, but that low rpm responsiveness is missing.

I loved the 328i engine, but not the sound. I went for the 335i which sounds lovely in comparison, but offers similar performance.

I didnt expect the driving mode to make that much of a difference, but happy to be proven wrong. You know what this means... I must "unfortunately" go for another test drive :-) Someone did say to me the wait for delivery is the killer.;-)

Sure doesn't feel like it, driving back to back.
I don't get why 328i vs 335i is such an issue. Please stop trying to say how the 328i is faster or has a better power/weight ratio than a 335i. It has LESS power and cannot gain as much HP/TQ has an equally tuned 335i EVER. It has better handling than a 335i and better MPG. Those are the selling points!! |

Incorrect.
It's been mentioned in a recent BMW press release...just not a NA press release. http://www.egmcartech.com/2012/10/02...-and-5-series/

They both kick in and surge at LOW rpm. The N55 just has MORE lol.

I personally don't believe they'll have a PPK for the N20 since the boost is already so high. The N54 had a PPK, and the N55 in the E90 has a PPK, which is safe to say the F30 N55 will have a PPK. N54 Boost = 7 psi N55 Boost = 10 psi N20 Boost = 16 psi |

We'll see, BMW just is always so conservative with their tuning. I'd love to get a Dinan tune, but only after warranty has run out. (PPK would hold me over though)
