went out to move my car into my usual parking spot. put it in D released the handbrake and off i went. then the car suddenly stopped, engine cut out and i looked down it was in park. think i was doing maybe 5mph at the time.

could argue i hit the P button but the engine had stopped too.

could argue ASS went off but why was it then in P?

really if it happened or could ever happen at a higher speed that could of been disastrous for myself or someone else...

my first guess was maybe anti roll had activated due to door not closed or something but no all doors were closed fully

any thoughts?

Only had this once when I got out to push car before it stopped after running out of fuel.

My key was in my pocket & presumed it was some sort of anti-roll away kicking in?

I doubt it would engage park at a high speed

i always doubted it would do it at any speed for absolute no reason too *shrug*

the engine died also so i think park being engaged was a factor of the engine dieing. so maybe thats where the issue was

I seem to recall someone else had this and it was the engine going into fail safe - I also recall their engine seized shortly afterwards!

I would have the dealer run a quick fault check.

Yep. It's a fault - time to see the stealer.
