I believe your fob stores this type of maintenance information plus you vehicle has an onboard counter that gets reset every oil change and must be less than 1000 miles to go to get your next free oil change.

Not true. I have had mine done at 1200 and 1500. Other members have too.

I brought my car in last fall with a warranty issue and 3900 miles to go on the system. They went ahead and did the service without any request at all.
