Brand of paint BMW uses?

Does anyone know? I had an incident at a car wash and their fk-up will cost me $500 via autobody shop or I repair it myself (I'm more than capable) but would like to know the exact brand so there's no issues with the paint mating.

I have a 2015 F30 in white.

You’ll never match Alpine White yourself even if you knew the brand and the batch number.

With all due respect, if you were really qualified, you wouldn’t need the brand.

Let an expert do it.

Don't think he specified which white. Alpine is tough, mineral is a fucking nightmare.

With all due respect, you shouldn't assume. There's a reason I'm asking about the brand in specific, maybe you should read? Different brands have different properties and I want it as close to stock as possible to avoid problems. Good to know that there's assholes everywhere that can't answer a question or scroll by without being a condescending jackass that offered nothing to the value of the question.

It is Alpine. It's small issues I'm fixing not repainting a whole panel.

I had a Lotus. Rear needed repainting after fiberglass damage.

Factory sent a can of white paint across the pond.

Not in any way close. So called Professional recommended by Dealership did repair as well. Similar situation with a Porsche.

Learned my lesson.

Go to qualified Professional and let them deal with it using whatever brand they need to match.

Nothing of value?

2 experienced members gave you plenty of value.

It was the correct answer. Just not the answer you wanted.

Lol. Lots of luck with your Maaco Paint job.

Ignore for you.

Don't know if they still use it, but back around 2005+ they were using Glasurit (BASF) waterborne base with compatible Glasurit clear coat. Glasurit is German paint, but BASF markets paint in the US...

All though I have had fenders, hood, front and rear bumpers, side skirts all painted to match my space gray metallic E92 perfectly back in the day.

My shop is excellent with paint work and worth the money they charge. Metallic is very hard to match as the metallic flakes in the paint fall/lay in different directions which changes the color match. Adding the clear coat changes color also.

Good shop will tweak base color formulation 1st to get close, then spray with clear and check match. They will then further tweak base coat so that final base/clear matches. Different brands of clear coat will tint paint differently.

I think they used either Sikkens or Standox when painting parts for my BMW

no one here has your answer...... google it or call a certified BMW body shop. Instead of all this name-calling and frustration.

Passive aggressiveness?

WTF? This isn't grade school people. Everyone should be able to discuss or even dispute other's posts without insulting people. You may dispute somebody's opinion but not attack/flame the person who stated it.

I don't think you or anyone can tell you unless they work for BMW and are involved with the manufacturing process. This was brought up many times during the E9X years and someone chimed in stating that no one, or at least anyone in North American can get or use the exact paint that BMW uses in their paint process. Even BMW body shops don't have the exact brand, instead they resort to using industry paint and paint through specified guidelines to match as close as possible.

So your best bet is to ask a BMW body shop which paint they use and go from there but like others said, good luck trying to match paint on your own when the paint you're likely to use is already not matching. Perhaps alpine white (non-metallic) would be a lot mor easier than say metallic paint where you have to deal with flakes.

To OP, BMW approves the following for refinish products:

Glasurit, Spies Hecker, Standox, and BMW Color Systems(last one only at CCRC).

These refinish products are not factory paint products though.
