What the hell happened

Just got out of the car wash and found this on passenger side doors. (I know, car washes are bad but I was desperate).

Anybody ever seen anything like this before?

But from WHAT part of the car wash? The dryers? Water jet? From the guy out front who uses a wand?

It looks burnt to me so could be couple of things , hot air drier too close or guy with jet wash in hands got too close with nossle .

You will have to replace both door pillar trims mate

Looks like the air dryer got way too close. Yes, hand wash only. Hear bad stories about car wash machines.

Wow! Never seen that before. I have seen plenty of paint scratches from car washes...never a melted piece of trim.

Wow... that's a first for me as well. Hand wash ftw as stated.

Fortunately, it's a pretty easy fix. Easy to replace. I replaced my matte black ones on my previous F30 for about $100. If I still had them, I'd send them to you, but I'm pretty sure I threw them out.

You need to show that to the owner and ask them to pay for the repair. They also need to be aware because if it is an issue with their equipment it could impact other cars.
