340 deliveries (US)
FYI...
I just heard from my dealer. My 340i is on a ship, scheduled to arrive in port at the end of next week. However, because it's a new model, it's still undergoing EPA/Treasury/Customs certifications, so until those things are finalized, they won't release them from the port. And, in my case, the Performance Center won't commit to a specific delivery date until they're ironed out. The dealer made it sound like the process couldn't start until my car arrives, but if it's a general certification for the model, it seems like it could be done earlier. I'm not clear on this process and why BMW waited until customer cars are actually arriving before finalizing this? |

Considering LCI's are close and at some dealers, expect it to happen within the next week or two.

This is very annoying - the same thing happened when I got my M5 when it was a new model. The cars were just sitting at the port waiting for federal and CA certs. |

Just learned a little more information. For some timeframe, customs agents randomly select vehicles of a new model and subject them to some observations/testing. I don't know the details of what's involved, but I hope crash testing isn't part of the procedure.
So, if my car is skipped over, it sails on through. Otherwise, it's up to a ten-day process until it's released back to BMW. And the performance center therefore won't commit to a delivery date until they know its status. |

By the way, based on fueleconomy.gov EPA hasn't happened for the 340i yet, so I don't think any 340i will be sailing through the port any time soon. It's even worse in CA where ARB needs to be done. |

This is the reason for the potential hold up. Anytime BMW (or any new car) has a change that could impact fuel economy/emissions its subject to this approval/testing.

There's a thread on the f8x m forum... Apparently the epa holds for all 2016 bmws were cleared a week or so ago. Dealer may not be fully in the loop so might want to call bmwusa 800# to confirm.

The ARB doc was just for the M3/M4, so not sure what the status is for the 340i. |

Thanks, guys. For those looking, the thread is at http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1153620.
Looks like the 340i (and xDrive) have already passed the EPA hold. I'll touch base with my CA. |

Are you picking up at PCD as well or locally? It pains me slightly that my boat will be docking in Baltimore before steaming onward Charleston. And congrats on the 328d wagon. Very lust-worthy. |

My 340i Msport has finished production and is now waiting to be given to a carrier.
Pretty quick. It was scheduled for early August start but actually went into production a few days early on 7.29. Nice. |

Well done! With the delays I'll probably be facing at the port (and then for finding a PCD vacancy), you'll probably have yours first.

RPM90 I am in exact same situation. Ordered 340i xDrive. It's a SA build. Update yesterday "waiting to be released to carrier". Geez I hope its not too long or impacted by rumored summer shutdown.

Mine is on a ship and scheduled to arrive in the U.S. on 8/18!
NightWriter I wonder if our cars are on the same ship since I am also in Maryland?

My 340i is aboard the Brasilia Highway and is, I believe, in the port of Baltimore today(!), before it continues on down the coast to Charleston, SC. I hope to take delivery by the end of the month, but I still don't have a confirmation date yet from PCD because of potential EPA-related holdups at the port. |
