Where there's a will, there's a way. I don't think it's too easy but like anotheran says, trust your gut.

Yes always go with your instincts but I just thought it was impossible to rollback considering the miles is always stored in the key

BMW should have the records for all the services done on it. Those will all have logged mileage as well.

If they don't, yet another reason to tip your hat and back away slowly.....

I don't know if it's possible to roll back but I do know there's a way to "freeze" the odometer. It's basically this chip you put in the car that stops the odometer from logging miles.

I know because I know someone with an m5 that does it.

I have a friend claimed he rolled back the odometer by his bro-in-law on his Evoque and now planning to do the same on his GLC300. I called him bluff.

Who is the seller? This seems extremely unlikely.

And--you are going to trade a '15 320 for a '13 328?

My friend got his odometer "freezed" with a module placed in his car, can you bring it in for service or is this detectable?

Car registers mileage in a number of locations.
It will indicate to the dealer if there is a discrepancy between the readings

Also some states have laws about this type of alteration if done to intentionally deceive someone. It should be criminal either way. If you buy a car at 20 K mile sand keep it for two years and sell it with 25K on the ODO when it really is well into the 100K zone this is fraud no matter which way you slice it.

One may argue that deception is worth a civil case in court at the very least.

It's illegal in every state and a federal offense as well.

Nothing is impossible. If a car seems fishy just walk away. Even if the 19k miles is true, you don't want to buy a car with 19k miles on it that looks, feels and drives like it has 80k miles. A car with 19k miles on it should look and feel almost new (a few scratches and chips here and there and that's it).

Couldn't agree more, there are some new methods people are using to freeze the odometer with out the need to roll it back

That was my thinking but i didnt want to over state the truth just in case. I figured that if someone wanted to know the truth they would research their own state.
