Low Mileage Oil Pan Gasket Leak

My car is currently having the oil pan gasket replaced (warranty) as it appears to have been leaking and puddling up around the bottom of the transmission housing where it meets the engine. The car only has 18,500 miles on it.

This is my first BMW, this appears to be uncommon, but is it signs of things to come? I did purchase it CPO so I still have 2.5 years and 80k left on that warranty, but wondering if these German cars are issue prone.

Also, I am pretty particular about my car being clean, and I am sure based on my research that there is going to be oil on the underside of the engine that the dealer doesn't get clean enough for me. How hard is the engine splash shield to remove? Looks like it would be maybe 10-15 8mm screws, is that all?
