Those two platforms have nothing in common. The 228i and M235i are built on the F2X platform, which is RWD. The 2-series Active Tourer is built on the UKL platform, which is FWD. I wouldn't make any assumptions about one platform based on news of the other.

Yeah, the fact that the current F2x 1 series models (inc M135i) are available with xDrive is more of an indicator that the 2 series will be also.

On another note...

2 series Coupe.. okay no problem, fits with BMW's new naming strategy..

So why the hell is the active tourer being called a 2???

Probably means that BMW is prepping an even smaller Active Tourer-type car/SUV, and that it'll get branded as a 1-series.

Does anyone know what is the name of the exterior color on the X5 shown here? Is this the Ruby Black that is available through the BMW Individual program?

Regardless of the name, does anybody like it?

"the Active Tourer will come to market as the 2 Series" ??

That's very strange. I really doubt this info, it's not in line with the even/uneven designation pattern bmw uses nowadays. It'll be badged as a 1 series imo. On the other hand there's also rumors about the new "out of pattern" z3.
