Had the Wagner competition intercooler on my car this past weekend at COTA. Logged ambient and intake temperatures and put them in all my videos.

Really amazing how quickly the Wagner competition recovers. Most of the time intake would be about 20degrees above ambient, climbing to about 30 over ambient on the big straits (talking like 3/4 mile straight, 40mph to VMax) then recovering to 20 over before the next corner. Have to say very impressed. Really looking forward to the help this is going to give me during the hot Texas summers

As they say - video or it didn't happen - Amb (blue) is ambient air temperature, Air (red) is intake air temperature

I had the JB4 turned off - I usually have it on map 2 on the street but the boost comes on too hard down low making applying power out of the corners on a track basically impossible. I tried leaving it on on the track a few times, but it's just too savage.

I'm actually working on a map 6 that has lower boost targets below 4k rpm then holds 14psi a little longer before falling off. Playing with that some today - seems promising (but defiantly not as satisfying on the street as Map2)

I had a feeling that was the case... cool to hear about building your own map. Have you experimented with just Map 1 on the track?

The bad news is that I did three back to back runs from 50-100mph and the momentI was finished, I realized that I was in comfort mode when I was in Sport+ yesterday. So I then immediately put it in Sport+ and did it again. I am posting the comparison logs from the Comfort run and the Sport+ run. Although there are obvious gains here, I think the true story will be told when its hotter outside. As soon as it gets to 80* here, I'll post more logs....

I see increased resistance to initial heat soak (owing to greater mass?), but no better dissipation (cool down) and basically identical peak temps. I'm skeptical this is much of an upgrade for $1k. Perhaps I'm missing something or have misinterpreted the data.

What do you think the real benefits are, besides initial resistance to heat soak?

Thanks,
Rob

Will this fit the 2014? When I first looked into upgrades I figured F30 meant all 335i beyond 2011, but I have been finding parts that say 2011-2013 only and just want to make sure.

I would just email to verify but I'm pretty sure that this is the same part number. You can also verify on realoem.com.

I personally think Fmic is the best mod I ever did .. Car pulls deff harder on top .. And consistent .. Before after one pull I felt like my car went to map 0 .. It will just heat soak so fast... Now I can do 3 -5 pulls and they all identically pulling hard ..

The sliver clip/clamp is reused. Just not the black plastic piece of the clamp.

i did use the sliver clamp but the hose came off after i accelerated hard. It seems the ER pipe cant be locked down into the intercooler hose. I reinstalled twice but came out with same result. Hose came off.

Have you called ER yet? I would try that first. When I was messing with my CP and stock hose, it seemed to connect pretty securely.

i emailed ER n they asked me to courier back the stuff to them to check if a warranty claim is warranted. Anyway too much hazzle. I m just trying to find solution to make sure the metal clamp stays in the croove of the ER pipe so not to have the intercooler hose to come off from the chargepipe upon hard acceleration.

You just need to be sure they're seated all the way

The groove in the ER should line up with the groove in the intercooler and the silver clip should engage through the ER pipe into the notch on the intercooler

I basically grabbed the ER pipe down by the fitting and shook the crap out of it until it snapped in on both sides

PM's like crazing and looks like some people purchased it so will be interesting to see a nice review on it and comparison to Wagner.

This thread has been dormant for a little while. So I was wondering if anyone else has logged any Wagner Performance and Competition intercooler data. I can't imagine the logs in this thread could be 100% accurate. To see no difference (minimal) with increased cooling surface wouldn't make sense.
