Chemical Guys Jet Seal

I'm thinking about putting a coat of jet seal on my new 328 BSM over the thanksgiving weekend.

My car is about 3 weeks old. Some questions:
-Do I need to wash with dawn?
-Will a 16 oz bottle be sufficient? If so, is a 16 oz bottle sufficient for 2 cars?
-Can I really expect this to last me through a cold and snowy winter?
-any other tips?

Thanks!

Sealant goes a long way! You don't need to put a super thick coating on. Just get good coverage everywhere. 16 oz will go a long ways! You will do both cars a few times easily.

I haven't used jet seal...I use Menzerna powerlock...but have heard jet seal is a great product. It will last the winter for sure. You will be very happy with the longevity of a good sealant.

I would recommend giving your paint a claybar treatment prior to sealant. This will ensure you strip off old wax, it will remove contaminents and leave a smooth surface behind. Clay is simple to do, relatively cheap and does a good job.

How many times do we need to say this... Do not use Dish soap on your car!!!

You should pick up a good citrus wash like Chemical Guys to clean the car at least 3 times at a heavier concentrate. Then clay, Polish, and seal the paint using a sealant and/or then wax.

Adding a bit of dish soap to your normal soap before sealant isn't a bad idea tho as it helps get rid of the wax that is already on the car.

That's what a citrus wash is for and/or a paint prep like from Griot's.

Never an excuse to use dish soap. It leaves a film. When you polish, you need the paint bare. Think of the fish eye effect.

I mean I haven't done it but if Larry from AMMO at NYC says its fine (and he works with million dollar cars) then he is probably fine. I would just mix some dish soap would my normal car soap.

Wash it in dawn, then re-wash in regular car soap. Don't forget to clay bar and such.

You planning to polish? FLEX just released a new polisher to the market this week.

Dawn can be hard on the rubber & plastic trim. It's best to use a product specifically developed for cars.

UV is typically the #1 contributor to breaking down rubber and plastics on vehicles, that is also with days-after-days of UV too. If you wash in Dawn, and then re-wash with a car wash soap, you'll be able to break down the oil/grease, but then dilute and rinse all of that off with the car wash soap.

This was helpful for me: http://www.adamsforums.com/topic/250...ore-polishing/
