I have just found the perfect bmw 4 series. It has the m sport plus package, harmon kardon etc. But one thing it does not have is the professional navigation. It does have the business navigation with USB audio interface. Now my question is this. My car is 64 plate, so late 2014. Does this mean i have the CIC or NBT system. Secondly, if i was to buy the 8.8 screen from ebay for around £400.00 is it a stright plus and play and code just like the instructions on this forum? And lastly, will i be able to use split screen, will the maps be in 3D with the building popping up? And also will the album art work once the enhanced bluetooth is coded in also? Your help would be greatly appreciated. And also a build thread of my 4 series will be coming soon! |

I'm using IOS, and not familiar with Andorid, but this Navi app looks good! Can you tell me the name for this application? Other question is regarding the split screen mode. Dou you have factory installed prof nav (NBT EVO) and you extended it with MMI and mirrorlink? |

The navigation app I use is Sygic, which is available for both iOS and Android. It's not free, but you can get a lifetime licence for a good price.
I don't have factory installed nav. I had a 6.5" screen with HU_ENTRYNAV (without nav), but if you install a 8.8" screen and code the higher resolution, splitscreen becomes available on iDrive 4. The left part of the screen is the MMI unit (mirrored phone's screen) and the right one is iDrive (you can show entertainment details, trip computer, etc.). So after fully reading this thread I almost sure I can do the update. I was set back then I tried it last week but I think the eBay seller sent me a broken 8.8 screen. My car specs from the factory are:
420d XDrive 2014 (64' plate) 6.5 inch screen I checked the coding and the module I have is called HU_ENTRYNAV My car DOES have navigation as standard I've done plenty of other coding so I'm all good to go there but before I buy another screen and pull apart the dash again can anyone confirm if it'll work on my car? Do I have the business nav? I've just taken in a lot of information and want to get this straightened out in my mind! |

If you have a 6.5" screen with nav, you have business nav (and not professional nav, in which case you would have HU_NBT and a 8.8" screen). The 8.8" screen should work in your car, although almost everyone here does not have nav. Do post some pics how your nav looks on a bigger screen ;-).

Okay so there's a delay in me doing the upgrade... I didn't buy the right screen! (DOH)
Looks like a bought one with the part number (9387453) which I think isnt working due to the wrong voltage SO I'll be ordering the correct one after sending that back then! |

I can say with 99.9 certainty that also retrofitting the cluster with digital display would be a direct swap with coding, only thing I would look at is making sure the cluster knows the new VIN and correct miles, That being said I would swing for the M2s dash if you are going to do a swap since its astectically more appealing and reads out 180 if your into that kind of thing!

I did this the other night and it only took about 20 minutes. Everything was very smooth even though this was the first time I've done any coding.
In some of the earlier posts folks said this didn't work with the integrated navigation retrofit (the one available as an accessory from BMW, not retrofitting the entire head unit) since that box is only set up for the smaller screen and couldn't be coded separately. Did anyone try that with the split screen view on the 8.8" screen? I'm wondering if the smaller screen real estate with the split screen would handle that navigation retrofit better.

Hello all, due to a busy few days I haven't had a chance to update on my findings with how well the business nav scales to the new screen but it looks AMAZING.
So I recently did the upgrade, my specs are: 2014 420d F32 HU_ENTRYNAV I did have the navigation so I had the business nav. So here's what the navigation looks like after the upgrade. I'll post before and after. |

But I was wondering if this also provides support for the voice controls or use of connected drive apps? The connected drive apps in particular I believe are only available with the pronav, can it be coded in? |

I had the connected drive services all up and running including the apps when I had the smaller screen, I did pay for them though (after purchase of the car) through the iDrive. So I can only assume all the connected drive features are available across the range |
