fabspeed dp and 93 octane stage 2 tune, failed inspection

so i have a fabspeed catted downpipe and a stage 2 bm3 tune. I went to get my inspection today (ny resident) and I failed for the o2 sensor in the emissions part. I thought that the one thing about the fabspeed is that it is advanced enough to let you pass but you also get you the flow you need for stage 2. So i may have been wrong lol. I realize I should have at least detuned back down to the stock tune. My office Christmas party was last night so I am not at my sharpest right now haha. Is there anything I can do short of putting a stock cat back in to pass?

Take the tune off. I believe NJ uses similar procedures for inspection and you will not pass with a tune. The tune disables the o2 readiness to prevent a CEL. Unless you customized it, bm3 stage 2 does this automatically. Taking the tune off and driving a little should solve your problem.

This. You need to flash back to stock (or Stage 1 OTS) to disable the CEL delete which is default on Stage 2 OTS. Alternatively, you can change the "Catalytic Monitors (CEL)" to OEM on your Stage 2 map in the BM3 configuration settings. Either way, you'll probably need to drive 50-100 miles for the cat monitor to show as ready.

Let us know if you pass after doing this, as this will let us know if the Fabspeed DP is performing as advertised.

I don't understand this. I'm currently running catless Stage 2 91 AGG with the monitor set to OFF. If I wanted to pass inspection I need to set it to OEM? I'm in NY as well and really looking for answers on how to pass when time comes for inspection.

I was under the impression that if you only had one monitor in "not ready" state in NY without CEL you might be able to pass?

Note, this is not a Fabspeed issue, this is because the tune makes the O2 sensor show up as "not ready" when the emissions guys scan your car. If your O2 sensors are not in a "ready" state, you will fail inspection. I had this happen on the wife's X5. I believe it was because I had just changed a bunch of stuff through Bimmercode and in the process reset the O2 readiness. This doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your emissions or your O2 sensors, it just means the sensors need to see a few miles before they are ready. You can either drive for 100-200 miles and they will reset, or if you're impatient like me, you can google "drive cycle" and there are instructions on how you can reset them in about 30 minutes. It took me a while to find a wifi obd app that should the sensor readiness state, but one called "Auto Doctor" worked for me. Good luck!

Exactly. Not Fabspeed issue. Same would happen with OEM Downpipe running the same tune map. Fabspeed claim covers their Downpipe, not tunes.

What If im running a VRSF catted downpipe(which threw a cel code)
how would I be able to pass emissions? or do I have no choice but to swap the stock DP back on?

Not throwing a CEL is NOT THE SAME THING as passing inspection.

Don’t assume.
