Quotes I'm getting for M Performance Exhaust

Here are a few quotes I'm getting for M Performance Exhaust in a couple of Bay Area shops. Let me know if you have any recommendations for shops.

BMW SF: $250
HTL Motorsports: $100
Impact Performance: $550
The One Auto: $160

They want to charge you $550 just to install an MPE? Wow. It's a super easy job and pretty hard to mess up. Anyone that is charging that much for that either misunderstands what you need or are totally ripping you off. Don't go there.

They sent me the quote and I replied that it seems high for what is essentially just a muffler exhaust install and they replied asking if it's a catback.

I know it's a catback and not just a muffler (hence why I said essentially just a muffler), but I don't think that adds that much to the installation time at all.

What a bunch of baloney. Can't say too bad things, since they did an awesome job on my personal trainer's RCF exhaust install, but this quote is such a bs.

The MPE is an axleback. It would take any shop 30 minutes to do. The fact that it costs more than double what the dealership charges should tell you all you need to know, IMO.

The only shop in the bay area I can recommend is EDGE Motorworks in Dublin. It'd be a bit of a drive for you but they do really good work.

i went to a mexican exhaust shop and they did it for 50$

all you literally do is cut the stock exhaust at the dimple and remove the exhaust, unscrew the valve actuator and put it on the mpe and do the same with the rubber things that hold the exhaust up.

easy..

Anything upwards of $150 seems excessive. I paid $100 for this installation. Pretty straight forward and its something any capable muffler shop can do.

Got this done for $60 and was there the entire 30 min it took to install with a lift. Literally one cut, unplug valve, remove the edges that the oem exhaust hangs on, line up pipes, hang the edges back in place for mpe, tighten clamp, done. Would not pay more than $100 for this job.

I actually have never done anything like this... But I think I'll just go buy a ramp for 35 bucks and rent a pipe cutter for free from a shop.

I just got mine installed a few weeks ago, and paid $150. I was pressed for time since I didn't want to do it myself and the shop I took it to originally wanted $200 after they got the car up on the lift. In retrospect, I could have done it myself, but was simply lazy.

Any half decent muffler shop could do it. I'm on the Peninsula and most places around here wanted $250+ for it. Even after I explained how straight forward and simple a job it was. Everyone with 4 stars plus on yelp seemed book solid and didn't want to deal with a muffler job.

jus go on youtube. plenty of videos for DIY.

trust me, if you went and paid 200$ and you saw for yourself what they actually did, you will not be happy you paid that much money for such simple work
