335 speed limiter
hey everyone,
I have searched this and a few other forums on speed limiter info, with some limited return on direction, i drive a f30 335 xdrive, i really needed all season tires however i also made the mistake of not knowing about option 840, there are a few tracks around me with long back straights and im looking for options. I have seen there are no more SLD from burger tuning for the f30, and the mppk does not solve the issue, is there anything else besides a proper ecu flash ? Thanks |

Mine was tested on the road with pbox. At 260 kph on the tacho the car stops accelerating due to the limiter. This was 248 gps kph. Now the limiter is removed via flash. So far i have done real 267 gps measured kph. Without flash not possible at this time to remove the limiter. |

Its what my heads up display said. Did it on a 20 mile stretch of empty highway. My buddy had his S63 with a limit of 187mph so he confirmed it with his tach too. This was done before any of my big mods, just a jb4, downpipe, exhaust and intake.

How long are the long backs? My 335i mppk (240kW version) needs a mile to accelerate from 0-155mph. Besides that you need some distance to brake before you turn. Even though you would be able to go beyond your top speed that isn't what makes you go fast around the track. The time is won by fast cornering.

Its a 3.6 mile track with a good straight, i understand what you are saying, however i feel that its not just hitting a wall at 130 but more so the characteristic of acceleration towards there is different, i dont know if im imagining things

The tracks we have in Denmark are quite short and the maximum speed I have reached is about a 110mph on a about quarter mile straight. I posted a video in this thread from the track: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1116614
However I often drive in Germany with no limits and I can tell you that when I cruise at 130mph there is still plenty power and you can still feel the acceleration all the way up till 155mph. But before doing any mods I would take a test on the track and see if you hit the limiter. If not there is no need to have it removed.

A flash tune isn't that easy. For the F3x you have to physically open the ECU and do mods to it, with all the risks that it implies, before you can flash it.
After that you flash it as you would like to.

My reasoning is running intake/FMIC/DP/exhaust with jp4 on meth would, I imagine get you over 400bhp at the crank, on a long straight that means over 130mph easy, I don't want to hit fuel cut on a back straight, that actually throws off your race line
