Is it worth buying a new 328i if you drive 20000 miles a year
I am comtemplating purchasing a new 328i. However, I drive 18,000 - 20,000 miles a year. The 328i will be my only vehicle. Does it make financial sense for someone that drives this much to buy such a car? I am not one to purchase a new car every three years.
Thank you |

I think it depends on what you want the car for.
BMWs are great drives, and it sounds like you do alot of driving. Also the new 328i has great gas mileage in the ECO Mode Pro. Just some thoughts. |

Without knowing your finances, we cannot answer this question for you.
Obviously a lease is out of the question. Are you capable of swallowing the depreciation costs faster as you go? Do you get reimbursed for your mileage? |

You can get a 20,000 mile per year lease.

I'm doing 27,000mls per year in my 328i because the 330d wasn't available in time, so am nervous about economy and trusting BMW!

I am presently leasing a 335i with 20000 miles per year for 30 months. Got a great price, residuals are awesome, etc. payments are 790 per month. 250 down payment plus first months payment and I put two MSDs down that I will get back at the end of my lease. I will probably be over my miles but I'll just buy more. I also love the car so much that I may buy after my lease is up. Leasing is actually a great way to go. |

How often do you replace your cars?
My previous BMW 3er went 158K miles before I passed her on to relatives. They in turn passed her on to other relatives. She's still in the family at nearly 300K miles. Yes, the entire car was given a full refurbishing at a bit beyond 225K miles (someone else's decision, not mine) If a 328i is what you want to spend your 20K miles/year in, buy one. FWIW, I would buy the E90 and not the F30 were I buying right now and in your shoes, whereby longevity is among the paramount concerns. There are big discounts available on E90s and it's not the first year of existence for a car operating on a brand new engine that's unlike any BMW have sold recently. Finally, inline sixes have primary and secondary balance which a lot of folks say contributes to greater engine life as there are fewer vibrations. Good luck.

If not a F30 328i, I would think the E90 335d would be a good choice, or in a different Make, possibly the new VW Passat TDI. I actually enjoyed driving it quite a bit.
