Today I was down by the pedals and I looked up and saw this! Does anyone know what this is?

I will try later when I go back in the car but as far as I can tell all 16 speakers are accounted for.

Do you have the HK system. It is suppose to have mics to adjust some surround settings I believe it could be for that.

Yes I do have the HK system. I should check if there is one by the passenger as well

Perhaps it's the speaker for the gong and chime for when you aren't wearing your seatbelt or the door is open.

Bluetooth speakers for phone conversations? I always felt that the sound during phone calls was not very hi-fi. Sounded like a special speaker just for Bluetooth. Could be wrong though.

I am not sure but as far as I can tell it sounded like calls came through the regular speakers.

I would think these are more the sensors for the HK system.

Those are the front motion-detectors for the factory alarm.

WOW...really did not sound like calls were coming from there. I will try and pay attention on my next call.

On my E92s, I am 99% sure telephone calls for Bluetooth came through all speakers as well.

I bet this loudspeaker is for certain tones or maybe chimes.

Maybe it sends white noise thru the cabin during phone calls to quiet them? Or some sort of noise cancellation use. Dunno.

But I am fairly sure calls go thru all/most speakers and not just this SINGLE one. It would be really obvious if that were the case. Keep brainstorming

it could be that:

only that one single speaker is for the voice calls...

... due to its location, or rather i should say, thanks to its location under the foot well.
it will not interfere nor will produce unpleasant echo effect to the person you are calling on the other line...

The microphone is place on the ceiling close to the driver so to capture as much of your sound/speech!

It would not make sense to use all 16 speaker to let you listen to the phone call...
the sound would just picked up too easily by the microphone... producing bad echos...

placing that one speaker under the foot well help defuse the sound and the carpet will prevent it from bouncing up to the microphone...

EDIT: but then i could be wrong also...
since i dont have my car yet, i cannot confirm it...
i will be able to do so after tomorrow

tested it today.

I called someone and
ringing came through regular speakers
voice came through regular speakers
had person call me back and ringer came through regular speakers

I stuck my head by the pedals and it all sounded like it came from the HK speakers and nothing was coming from speaker by pedals.

So when will this speaker turn on?
