Totaled 335i M Sport in head-on collision. Testament to BMW safety

This is the result of being in a head-on collision with an SUV, and a testament to BMW Safety.

Last December, I was leaving a friend’s house just after midnight and crossing an intersection with a solid green light. Heading in the opposite direction, a driver under the influence ran the left turn light and hit me head-on. The impact was so jolting that my car made a 180 degree spin. Before even realizing that I was still in one piece, the SOS operator gets on the speakers and asks if I’m okay. I tell her “I think so” and she says she’s sending emergency services. In the meantime, I get out of my car without a scratch (!) and I walk over to check on the other driver and passenger. Their SUV was mangled and they weren’t responsive; I thought they were dead. It turned out they were unconscious and, thankfully, survived. Police, fire and ambulance arrive in minutes, check me out and ask me a ton of questions before letting me go. I was lucky to walk away from the accident, while the other driver and passenger were airlifted to the ER.

Again, I can’t stress enough how thankful I am for the designers and engineers who made this car with our safety in mind. It was my first BMW and certainly not my last.

Good to hear you were able to walk away from the accident! The car is only a material object, and it appears you got a replacement just as beautiful.

I have seen just how safe BMW vehicles are. You are someone who walked away from an accident you otherwise wouldn't have.

I agree. I wasn't even upset about the car. It served its purpose in a car accident.

Also, South BMW in Miami really took care of me. In addition to discounting the hell out of the replacement car, I got loyalty cash and BMW app bonus cash. I was able to add the 19-inch wheels + HK Sound and it still came out priced lower than the original

Glad to hear you walked away safely and the car did what it is supposed to do.

It is nice to have a new car, stuck with EB II again, good choice

Drive safe my friend, its more like compensating for other's mistake some time.

On a side note, any difference in ride quality switching from 18 to 19" wheels? They definitely look good!

Thanks

There's little to no difference in ride quality/comfort.

I see you upgraded the rims eh?

Why did you order a custom plate based on a character from a TV show?

The license plate is based on both a character from a TV show and a famous scientist at the same time. Until someone observes it, that is...

Wow. Glad you are okay! What did you drive during the 3 month wait for your replacement car? Did you get a rental from the insurance company?

I had to drive a crappy Suzuki which gave me a newfound appreciation for my Bimmer

State Farm covered the rental.

I had something like that happen to me in a Mercedes E-Class, since walking away without a scratch, I refuse to buy a non-German car...

Wow, that's incredible. I'm really glad to hear you weren't injured. It truly is a testament to the build quality of BMW.

I'm sure everyone has seen this by now, but if you haven't, it proves that BMWs are built like tanks. This guy, like you, was able to walk away on his own.

Glad you are ok! It's good to know you can indeed survive a head on collision in this car (though no one should go through that)

I know, Miami is crazy when comes to old people that is no longer able to drive and still taking the chances + drunk drivers
You just gave us another reason to keep our F30
Great choice on your nee F30, I got the same one :-)
