Cheers kitster, just bought a token and going to borrow a laptop from my bro - he has two just worry if they batteries are goosed.

You mentioned coding 609 and 6NS, is it easy to find where these are and is it a case of activating them? I presume I will have to find the original option and turn it off to avoid conflict.

How do you go about updating the software? Is it a download from BMW onto a USB stick?

Took friday off so can do it during the day, was getting dark when I was working and I stabbed myself trying to shave the USB HSD connector....

Read my post to you about coding the FA http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...4&postcount=19

You need to add:
609 (you will not have this in your FA, its the code for the ProNav)
6NR (if you have the Apps FSC in the NBT)

Change:
6NH (this is for basic bluetooth), to 6NS (Enhanced BT for NBT). Then follow the rest of the guide, page for page.

Once thats done you need to VO code the HU_NBT.

What is VO Coding? Coding of all FDL's (100% of the ECU) to predetermined settings based on the Vehicle Order.

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on HU_NBT ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Make sure you read the Parts 1-3, this will make things clearer.

Thanks, I read the PDFs etc and probably because I haven't actually had a shot at it, feel like there is something I am not getting.

Cable arrived today so will test it out later and see how I get on.

Quick update, so my ENET Cable has arrived today and Shawn has kindly provided me with links to download esys and PSdZData. Still feeling uneasy about doing it myself, even after reading all the how to's. Will try and have a go at coding soon as im confident enough. Just worried im gonna end up at dealers looking like a numpty!

Just follow the guides and take your time. I would write down what you want to code so you have an order in which you need to do things. Plus anything extra also gets written down.

You will need to add code 609 and change 6NH to 6NS to your FA, then VO code (see my post above), once that's done and your happy with the NBT, you can go and FDL code all the little options for the NBT

Whatever you do don't click on the 'Code Default Values' button.

Ok so ive downloaded everything, and installed esys. psdz files have been extracted and put into Cata/psdzdata

Im running off the installation checklist and cant find the EDIABAS/ est/ files. Help please

You are using old outdated instructions. EDIABAS and ZGW_Search are not needed, and no longer included.

You wrote above you had already extracted your PSdZData folder and placed it in the C:\Data folder so you have C:\Data\psdzdata. At this point, I have no idea what you are extracting and what these 7 files are.

I have PM'd you the proper Installation and Setup instructions.

ok so the first issue when using esys, i've switched my internet off, plugged in the OBDII Cable, got limited connectivity, then when opening esys and clicking connect, there are no options for me to select the vehicle under target. Vin shown underneath matches my car though

If your target connection window is empty, then either you did not install your PSdZData correctly, or you did not set E-Sys Options to properly point to it.

first off thanks to Shawn for helping me get esys up and running.

I have a march 2012 F30

I have basic kombi

NBT was from LHD F31 after VO coding showed my F30 so I presume its VO coded properly.

Ive changed kombi_cic and basis_mmi settings but still I don't have any gongs or display from the NBT

another thing is the service history is showing the donor vehicle and not my cars history so for now I have disabled it from view.

Wow this is some great thread ! I just got myself an E70 4.8 (first ever UDM) and will be receiving it in around 2 weeks ! My E70 comes with the HUD, Tired CCC, PDC with no Reverse Camera. I gotten some quotes in my country here and there on NBT retrofit and man are they expensive... (I guess because there's not many choices from where I come from). Therefore I plan to DIY this amazing retrofit.

I really hope some of you Gurus here can help me out throughout this exciting DIY Adventure!

The only programming i Know of is C, C++ and C#. I have read on some forums that it is really easy to code and I really do hope its true !

Can someone please help me. I've been trying to retrofit a nbt system. I installed everything into place, screen, unit, itouch. I started coding, i looked at your post kitser. Changed to 6NS, added 609, and I coded the VO HU_Nbt. But still my screen just shows a blank. I can here the system making noises but I don't see anything on my screen? Any idea why? Please help this is driving me nuts!
