Question cruise control is deactivating itself??

I have never experienced this before and I use my cruise control at least a few times a month. the last 3 days I have been in cruise control my car is deactivating it, and I am not sure why? I get a message in my idrive screen saying "cruise control has been deactivated and it can be reactivated if necessary".

I cannot recreate the problem on command, it's random, but it has happened at least 5 times in the last 3 days.

What would cause our F30 BMW to deactivate cruise control?

Also when it deactivates its kind of a jerky action, almost like a gear is being slipped? it decelerates the car abruptly when it deactivates, if that makes any sense?

With the jerky deceleration it makes me think this is the traction control kicking in which will deactivate the cruise...

you nailed it! i just got brand new snow tires and i am still in AZ (moving to CO in 2 weeks) so i have experienced some slippage while accelerating. here is what is displayed in the iDrive window; the slipping icon doesn't display while in cruise control but i have noticed it when accelerating on the highway without cruise control activated.
