Garage List
I had mine replaced @ a BMW certified collision center 2 months ago.
the bumper came unpainted but the shop did a great job - I really can't tell the difference.
All the rear parking sensors were replaced as well...but they were not working so I had to send it back to a dealer ship to have them replaced again. (under warranty)

total repair cost was $7000 ... (including muffler, pipes...)
the other guy's insurance paid for it. (he is at 100% fault for rear-ending me)
it's not too bad - considering his 2014 Civic was totaled! I hope he learned a thing or two.

Use filler or caulk to smooth it out, the the paint to paint it. you can polish and buff it out and its not noticeable.

This assumes there is no frame or electronics damage
This happens because BMW made flimsy bumpers. What I usually do is fill the cracked holes in the bumper with something like Quick Crete (fast drying concrete) to strengthen the bumper so that it doesn't get damaged next time you get hit. You can then paint over it and buff it out and it's completely unnoticeable.

I have had a corner bumper dispersed two times in the very same accepted entire body retail outlet. Both equally cases of deterioration were no wrong doing and pretty much equivalent within price and extent on the deterioration. The first fix ended up being a full raise bumper respray and ended up being exquisite. Your second moment many people smart repaired this wishing I would not see. Many people actually skipped a few of the deterioration. To cost £550 and think they might break free with a smart fix will be almost nothing less than robbery. We will be planning to a fantastic indy next occasion.

The rear bumper on my vehicle was fixed yesterday. Flawless results. PM me for the shop name in Orange County CA.
Mineral white paint requires a three stage application process, which means technician's experience will be a major reason why one's expectations will be met (or not).

Got the front, rear and sides replaced on MY12 for M Sport ones at my BMW Certified collision center.
On my part, the paint match was better than the previous parts, so hats off to them.

My rear bumper was recently replaced at a certified shop for USD1600 and the result was so-so. The OEM part fitted well, but the paint job was sub-par, e.g. there were dust and lint under the base coat and clear coat, and the bumper lips that face the tires were not polished to a shine(or possibly missing clear coat). Also the color match was not that great, to the extent that the rear bumper is now a different shade than the rear quad panels(jet black).

It did look like the job was rushed, even though it was made clear that they could take as much time as needed. This shop is a network repair shop of my insurance company, and the estimator told me they are expected to finish in 5 business days(the car was dropped off early Mon morning, and picked up Sat morning) to avoid rentals over the weekend(insurance companies hate that).
