Office Emails and TXT's
Has anyone actually got emails/txts coming through to the Office option in iDrive?
I've followed most of the comments and tips from here: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708682 and installed the lasted BT update: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=783879 I've got an iPhone 5 and 4S both running the latest iOS6 vers and have the enhanced BT option. Whilst it's not a deal breaker for me, I would like it to 'just work'. |

Texts yes, emails no.
Have you set your iPhone to 'notifications' as well? After setting everything up it took the car a while to get working...

iPhone 4s, iOS6 and Pro Nav with enhanced Bluetooth - I get text messages (although only those received while in the car - i.e. not unread messages that were on the phone before getting in the car). Can't get emails although I'm sure someone here said they got that working at one point while iOS 6 was in beta but the feature disappeared again with the final release of iOS 6?

I've not managed to get either with my iPhone 4S and IOS 6.0.1. I'll have to read the threads again to see what I need to do. I do have notifications disabled for email but not for texts.

OK, I've now got email and txts coming through to my iDrive.
Txts & iMessage will be displayed as an SMS, I had to change the Alert Type = Alert. Emails are also coming through but are displayed as SMS! Anyway also I had to change the alert type = Alert. SMS are opening up quickly but emails are taking ages, in fact I just gave up waiting. |

Ok had some success regards emails.
Previously they wouldn't show up, however today I applied the UPD1006.bin update which took me from iDrive Telephone version TX-003.005.005 to version TX-003.005.006 (Settings -> Software -> Display Current Version). Since doing that I can now get emails up on iDrive. Two minor problems, first they come up under the SMS messages category even though there's a separate email category. Secondly iDrive shows 'Unknown sender' on the list screen, but then shows the senders name on the line underneath, and will speak the senders name if you ask it to read the email. To avoid this what you could do is to set the Mail notification to 'Alert' only for your VIP/Favourites list. That way iDrive will only pick up emails from your important contacts, and everything else will just sit on your phone until you choose to read it. (That's what I've done - don't want an iDrive full of spam!)

Yep, I've got the alert style set to 'Alerts' for my VIPs, but for the four mail ids I use on the phone it's set to 'Banners' so iDrive will only pick up mails from people in my VIP group.

Has anyone been able to reply to a text through the car? The voice recognition seems to work well but after I hit send, it comes back saying sent through my iPhone but nothing seems to ever get through.

Same problem here Richard, it dictates, and says it's sent, but never sends!

I use Siri to send a text when on the road, simple long press on the home button- starts Siri, mutes whatever is on, just tell it who your sending too and dictate your message- then tell it to send. Simple and effective, you should give it a go. Very easy and safe as you never need to take your eyes or your hands off the road apart from the first Home button press....no worse than changing channel or temp etc.

Thanks mate. That is all good except i believe to hold the phone and press the Siri button whilst driving is breaking the law. Also hard to do when the phone is in the cradle.
