This will be interesting.. BMW is churning more models than I can blink That is what makes this forum & brand more exciting than others.

See on this one I am not agreeing with most of you- they are not testing the body on this car- it is the underpinnings so that is why it is different.
Read what Scott is saying- this is NOT an ordinary 3 series sedan. The GT body has not been approved or even designed so obviously they are not testing that part- they are testing the drive line, ride height of something other model as this is significantly different than the xDrive versions currently testing in the arctic and different than the rwds out and about. The drive train and suspensions are often designed before the actual body- the reason we saw an E91 testing X1 components, a yellow bus testing the MINI Countryman etc., this is a mule of something else than the body suggests.

Not sure what we have here, yet. In any event, it seems difficult to reconcile all of the sprouting BMW models and what their purpose is (would like to see sales figures and possible impacts on other model lines). BMW seems to be getting away from their performance model in favor of more "Lexus-like" models. Whatever, but all of the BMW lines seem to be getting longer/heavier. This, in light of government requirements to improve MPG. BMW's approach (like many other manufacturers) seems counter-intuitive - witness, for example the F10 being almost 5 inches longer and ?? heavier than the E39. Why?
