If I need to know the time, I look at my phone, as I've probably done so for the last goodness knows how many years.

I can get the Apple watch on a deal via Vitality (health insurance / app). Still can't see that I'd use it enough to feel its worth while & with age comes poor eyesight so I doubt I'd be able to read the screen before long

That?s the one i?d go for, it?s out of stock on EE website though. Did you get it from the Apple store? They don?t appear to list it on their website.

Works out £110 cheaper over the 24 months to buy it outright from Apple. £520 vs £630

How come it?s £520 can you buy the data plan from EE for £90 over the two years?

Unlimited data plan free for 6 months then £5 per month for 10GB, so yes £90 for the 24 months.

I see, so do you buy the watch from Apple then ring EE to activate the data plan?

Below is a copy and paste from EE website.

You can also buy an Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + 4G) from other retailers including Apple, Argos, John Lewis and Currys.

If you’ve bought from another retailer and want to buy an EE data plan, first you’ll need to pair your Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + 4G) with the EE network on your iPhone.

Once you've paired your watch to your iPhone, you can add a 30-day plan, which you can buy through the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

It’s free for six months with unlimited data, then 10GB a month for £5 a month.

Cool thanks! I might just buy from Apple on finance at £20.60 per month then after the six months I can decide if I actually need the LTE functions!

My Tag is on its second replacement strap and looking shabby again. One of the things I like about the Apple is having a cheap strap for every day use and a smarter one for special occasions.

Mind you, I may well come under the Broncho definition of undateable these days

My watch charger and phone charger share an adapter so it's no great hardship.

Check out Watch Obsession for replacement straps. Yes they are not originals but they are very good for the money. At least that way you can buy a new one every year!

Well I finally made the jump and bought one, and wow I’m impressed already! Despite reading countless reviews, there’s still ao many little things it does that I’ve discovered, it really is a special piece of technology!

I really love the astronomy watch face, very cool!

Are you guys using the AW as a smart watch or a fitness watch primarily?

I have a Garmin at the moment which is a fitness watch with some smart features. Most reviews are saying the AW3 is a smart watch with some fitness features.

I am interested in the 3rd party running stuff like Runmeter or Mapmyrun as the Apple app seems quite restrictive and then some of the golf apps. Anyone used them?

Last time I tried an AW it was the series 1 and it was shite!

For me it?s 50/50 really. I was considering a Garmin Forerunner but as far as I can see the AW does everything the garmin does and more (except the option of a chest heart monitor).

And with this cellular version being able to leave my phone at home when I run and still be able to make/take a phone call in an emergency or stream music (when it becomes available) or internet radio is a real added bonus.

Ok ta. It?s a difficult decision for something we don?t ?really? need

Still trying to decide if I get one does it mean to get the most out of it you need to wear it all day every day? My Omega would sit on the bed side table too much. I like the AW features but don?t like the inability to share with Strava for example.

I'll (will) use mine for exercise. I like the GPS and that I can get my music on it without my iPhone but I don't like not being able to use my offline Tidal stuff. If I was going to be honest it's probably too much for what I'm going to use it for but hey, it's stuff right?!

I definitely agree we don’t ‘need’ one, I need a smartphone & I need an iPad, but the AW is definitely a useful thing. I just had a play with the remote camera viewer/shutter for iphone, very cool and handy for taking family photos without asking a stranger to take it!

Also agree I feel a bit sad for my mechanical watches sitting on the side, but at least they’re avoiding damage from daily wear, and will feel more special when I put them on for meals and evenings out.

Apparently Strava does upload everything the next time you come within range of your iphone: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/...-Watch-App-iOS
