Do we have a launch function on the F30/2/6? I saw a video and it seems we do but I dont really want to play around with the brakes in order to figure it out.

Yes (inb4 )

iirc you need to do 10km without the engine ever shutting off (disable ASS) and then turn tc off, pin brake, pin accelerator, flag should show on the instrument cluster. release brake, vroom

So it doesnt use the timelapse feature of the car, but pausing works great.

Im not sure Ive tried it with terrestrial radio, but it would be strange for it not to buffer it too.

As we all know (I think) you can roll down the windows and open the sunroof by holding down the "unlock/open" button on the remote control. You cannot reverse the process and close everything by holding down the "lock" button on the remote (the logic escapes me as to "why" you can't do this.

BUT! I just found out that if you have everything open, all you have to do is put your finger on the door handle and hold it there for a bit and everything will closed.

Oh, forgot. You have to KEEP your finger in place until everything closes or it will stop mid-cycle. That may seem stupid to some but I'd bet is that it's to avoid somebody getting injured during the closing process. They could setup the remote the same way I'm sure - hold down the button until everything closes.
thanks so much for this! i actually had my key coded to do this, but then a software update at bmw wiped it all out.

Cheers

launch function came with 2014+ cars that had SAT (sport auto transmission). If your car has paddles, it has SAT.

for 2013 cars, SAT can be programmed, as well as launch control. Ive done it to my car.

Ah, Comfort Access is a total mess. Appointment with dealership on Wednesday so that will burn some time I' sure. The good news is that while explaining some of the problems to my SA, the car failed and wouldn't unlock by touching the handle - either remote had to be inches away before success. LOL

But... Do we get the flag thing? lol

I'd try this but I'd be worried I'd just spin the wheels and not go anywhere :-/

No flag and zero wheel spin. Give it a go. You need to floor the fun pedal though not a gradual press else you'll just ramp the revs up and up.

Polarized sunglasses HUD problem

Any workaround for the HUD info disappearing when I put my everyday polarized Maui Jim sunglasses on?

That was a revelation. Then the fact that you can mix AM and FM and SAT on that one list without toggling through different modes is like Christmas in August. Then the fact that I've got the HUD and can see the radio stations floating on the tip of my hood is like the Easter Bunny marrying the Tooth Fairy and giving birth to the Great Pumpkin.

Yes and no. Yes, there is a workaround, no, you can't keep your existing sunglasses.

Sunglass manufacturers such as Maui Jim and Ray Ban have learned to cut the glass differently and make Polarized lenses on a diagonal instead of horizontal and as a result that fixes the disappearing HUD problem. This is a fairly recent development, I got mine about a year ago.

Do what I did- drive up to a Sunglass Hut in a strip mall, park right at the front door, explain the situation to the manager, and ask her to show you all the Polarized sunglasses in the store. Narrow it down to the 6 you like best, walk out to the car, see which ones have the newer glass cut diagonally.

Just noticed that when you use the remote to unlock the car, the courtesy interior light color temperature is a very nice cool white but as soon as you open a door, the color temp changes to a warm white. Turning on the cabin lights manually also is a warm white.

Thanks for a great answer. Unfortunately my glasses are prescription and cost me like $700. I guess I can have the lenses recut but that would be like $500. Maybe I'll try to wear something else in the car. Shame BMW can't work this out somehow.

Did you go a BMW dealer for programing launch control?

Learned something new today from ///Cardia.

Being an 8AT I have at times wished I had a 6MT because of certain behavior the AT exhibits over a true manual shift car.

I have always hated that I can't just drop gears when in manual mode and I have always switched to normal "D" mode and then back to Sport AT. this typically only drops 2 gears and then if needed I would go back into manual to drop another gear.

It was pointed out to me today and I confirmed this on my drive home, when in manual mode if you floor it past the kick-down and then down shift it will drop 3 gears. I see myself playing with this often for the next week or so

I'm not sure if this is only a feature on SAT as ///Cardia has this option from factory I have it coded.

A/C Off

Turn the A/C off to really feel the power and torque of the 4 series!

Also when washing, you can manually place the side view mirrors all the way back and up so they drain, so not to leave watermarks after.
