Depending on the retrofit kit, it's probably just an LED replacement, without changing the housing and having proper cutoff.
That's what I was asking. What is the difference between this kit and just buying the actual retrofit led fog lights?

This "Kit" is the OEM LED foglight. Which includes proper housing and cutoff. A retrofit will just replace the bulb.

By saying "retrofit" I was referring to the LED fog lights listed at the beginning of this thread. The kit looks like it has these housings but there are extra stuff like a control bow and some capacitors. Seeing that this kit requires these makes me question if they are needed when just installing the newer led fog lights listed in this thread.

What was posted by the original post will need coding to clear errors. Any conversion kit that adds just LED or HID normally has the capacitors etc to avoid the errors but those could also just be coded.

That's kind of what I thought, was just curious.

Is there any way to make the LED fogs brighter. I feel like they are not bright enough. Some coding like for DRLs?

Did you already code this?
3062 MAPPING_ABBIEGEL_R_PWM_LEVEL_1 -> 100% : LED Foglights front right
3063 MAPPING_NEBELSCHW_R_PWM_LEVEL_1 -> 100% : LED Foglights front right

3063 MAPPING_NEBELSCHW_L_PWM_LEVEL_1 -> 100% : LED Foglights front left
3062 MAPPING_ABBIEGEL_L_PWM_LEVEL_1 -> 100% : LED Foglights front left

Thanks for this! I believe I have one of them coded but perhaps not the other line for both left and right. Will check it out.

So anyone figure out what the additional hardware included with the 61132358310 kit vs buying the 63177315559/63177315560 separately is for?

Here is a post where a guy shows everything included with the kit:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1058807&page=2

Do all f30s already have the cornering foglight module?

Difference I can see is coding vs. no-coding. The kit is plug and play, but the other "retrofits" require coding. Going to get the retrofit done for LED foglights but can't seem to find a reasonably priced pair.

Has anyone who has done this retrofit had any issues? I just ordered a set.

No issues so far. A very easy mod to do. Just need to aim them better. I feel like mine are aimed too damn high.

Hello CrapSOOT,

Based on your thread, I decided to install the LCI fog lights on my 335i F30.
I had no problem for replacing the left one...but for the right side, I'm facing some problem.
in fact, as you can see on the picture, the current fog light is a little bite hidden by a big vertical part and as the LCI fog light is more bigger, I think it will be impossible to install the LCI fog light.

Did you had the same problem?

Thank you very much for your help on this topic

Did the retrofit yesterday, couple of things to note.

My stock halogen fog lights were only attached with one screw, I thought that was kind of odd but the fog housings only have one screw hole. Second, the install is definitely really easy if you have a lift. Lastly I'm unimpressed with the light output even with coding to 100%. I'm not quite sure it's worth the high cost involved for the LCI lights.

Any change to LED requires coding out the cold and warm checks. My retrofit cost about $125, and the measured light output is three times that of the stock 35w halogens. My install thread:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1377259

Coding isn't difficult, well worth learning how to do. If it wasn't for the codes all being in German it wouldn't be intimidating at all.

hi guys,
I just bought fog led lights retrofit OEM parts:
63 17 7 315 559
63 17 7 315 560
These havent arrive yet and I thought I needed resistors but now I understand all I need to do once installing them is do a coding. I have no idea where to look for the codes or how to do it since I am new into upgrading my car etc...
Mine is an F30 (year 2016 320i) VIN K356623

Can someone point me in the direction of the codes I need to set up and also how do I do a coding I have no idea what I need? I have a schwaben mini/bmw scanner, is that good or do I need a software and ENET cable?

Thanks....

You need the e-Sys software and an ENET cable.
Or you can find someone who codes for you.

alexgarcia ,

You only got a partial answer above.

To do any coding on an F series, you need the following:
  • Cable (OBD II connector on one end and LAN connector on other)
  • E-Sys progrgarm
  • E-Sys Launcher
  • PSdZdata -- probably Lite will be good enough unless you intend to Flash an ECU, then you'll need Full version

Suggest you post on this thread: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...916911&page=21

When doing so, address your post to either ShawnSheridan or Almaretto

With all of the above, it's really very straight forward to code out the warm & cold check that the system routinely does for regular bulbs, but not necessary for LEDs

Hope that helps

This also works with the wheel mounted. Just go full lock to the left when doing the driver side (other side vice versa).
With the wheel in place, you can tug the fender liner behind the wheel, just like you did with the brake disc.

When putting the new LED fog in place, I found it useful to pull up on the mount. It might not slip into place easily (it didn't with my M-Sport bumper, there was a gap), but when you pull up from the inside, the fog will find its way.

This looks so much better than the yellow fogs. Plus, the cornering lights still work with the LED, which is a bonus.
Just code everything to 100%, otherwise they will start to flicker after a few seconds!
Do you have the link or info on the lights you used?

My fog led lights arrived today

I much better understand now all that it is required to do the coding. Today my fog led lights arrived (they look so nice) and I cant wait to install them even I dont have all necessary software and hardware to do the coding.

I have read some retrofits have no error or require no coding (i dont know if that is my case) anyways I will look into getting all the required to do the coding and will post in the thread below for guidance. I am about nervous about all this coding but since I am also upgrading my 6.5" screen to a 8.8" screen with navigation I really need to learn all this.

I will post some images as I start my installation...(I was about to consider buying the resistors but I will not now and better deal with this coding challenge)

Thanks,
