Door Pin is MIA

So this just happened! I came to the office this morning and left the car shut the door and the door wouldn't shut close. I realized the pin was in the locked position so tried to unlock it by pulling, which I succeeded momentarily only followed by me releasing the pin and pin going all the way to the bottom of the door. By pulling the door handle from inside and outside I managed to release the lock and close the door (thanks to the BMW assist for the tip) but the pin is MIA still...
