I could help out with basic codes, if you have a OBDII Cable and a laptop. I could try remote coding your vehicle.

Sure, no worries. I'm coding for a few members on the coming Sunday Morning, if you're in Sydney. You could join us in the code session.

Damn, I'm racing this Sunday, would have loved to come along and get a feel for how it's done.
Have purchased a cable and left it with Stuart @ BMR to play around with but will be trying to code some things soon, especially removing the warnings. |

Yes ASD had a noticeable difference in terms of sound but odd.
Here's a clip of 228i with a M4 note. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=94&v=L4ckkilfyac

knightsaber,
I want to code but the main forum coding thread is soo big it feels a bit overwhelming. Could you let us know where u get the latest software, the cable, and a quick how to. Or any links you used to help you get started and any tips which you feel may be easier for someone to get started. I have always been a bit scared to code, even with my last car BTW...what you mean active sound is odd. does it actually make the car sound like an M3 from the inside? |

Just be careful, NEVER press 'CODE DEFAULT' that will brick the car. Wave goodbye to your car if you do. We tested different ASD profiles on AUSF22's car, Coding ASD allowed us to assign different engines to the vehicle eg. M3/M4, N55, N20 etc. First we set it to a lower model engine and ASD was very feint but still audible, then tested the M3 engine which hardly made any difference then a N55 engine & it produced a loud & powerful engine note but synthetic in a way. If you roll down the windows you'll notice discrepancies in the sound inside & outside the cabin.

I was thinking today... I don't have the cable but I do have a BT OBD2 connector I use in conjunction with the Torque app. Wonder if that will work if I use it to link via BT to my laptop? Time to try and find out tonight...

E-sys v3.24.3 is the coding software & PSdZData is like a database that stores all the data, I presume E-sys will access all it's data from PSdZData. There's two variants 'Full & Lite', Full (20GB+) is for ECU flashing and Firmware updates for modules, Lite is for simple coding. My recommendation is for Lite (400mb). The cable is available on Ebay Overall you'll need: E-Sys, PSdZData full/lite, Premium Token Generator and Enet Cable.

My kind IT guy did however let me install the E-sys packages on my work Surface Pro 3 : so I can try it out tonight. If that fails I'll have to shoot for a cable.
Are all the cables serial to RJ45 connectors? Or can you go serial to USB? |
