Coding LOUD START possible?

Many people are annoyed about loud cold-starts. But...is it possible to code loud starting in so it ALWAYS starts loud?
I just want to wake up my neighborhood every time I start my car. Just for the lulz.

No, it is not. Engine control parameters, particularly the wastegate operation, are not part of VO or FDL coding. The reason it's so loud is because the DME holds the wastegate open and bypasses the turbo on cold starts, allowing the engine and oil to warm up and the catalyst to light off (rich mixture) before it allows boost to develop.

No way for us advanced users to do this either. Best you can do is the "golf tee mod" (which no longer requires a golf tee) to keep the driver-side exhaust flap open all the time and increase the sound somewhat. But there is no way to manipulate the wastegate control without delving into the DME code, which is encrypted. A "piggyback" controller could conceivably be programmed to make the DME think all starts are cold starts and hold the wastegate open, but that means no boost until it closes. This really isn't something you'd want to do.

Get a 340i which does a cold start sound with each start

335i does a cold start each time as well , but there is a cold start and a cold start. When I started up mine for the first time post software update it did a month off all cold starts far louder and longer than a normal cold start as all a parameters where reset.

But as it is bypassing the turbo during that process no suprise its so loud

ECU flash is the only way.
