Picked up a bottle of The Balvenie Caribbean Cask this morning. Now I have to wait until this evening to try it.
(Might belong in the First World Problems thread.)

Wow, nice. Definite toffey/butterscotch tones. Meaty, too. Makes the Glenlivet 12 seem a little thin in comparison. Nice long, warm finish, too.

Nice - glad you enjoyed it...reminds me I need to pick up another bottle.
I've been thinking back to past scotches I've enjoyed; for some reason the Dalmore 10 year old stood out. It was cheap (edit - in relation to other decent single malts - like $50) and one of the first that got me hooked...I think its probably just nostalgia is why I like it. I bet if I tried it now I might not think it is as good as I remember. But I can't try it because I can never find it up here. Very odd. Do you have the Dalmore down there? Normally has a picture of antlers on it as I recall. If you've ever had it, be interested in what you think seeing as how I cannot find it. |

I wondered if this would be a mistake and it was. This is some really good stuff.
I just can't justify buying it too often. I'll look for the Dalmore 10.

EDIT: The Dalmore 12 is also very good. I like it. Thanks for the recommendation, Joekerr.

Currently sipping on some Jamison 18. Oak barrel scotch. Thanks guys for getting me into this hobby of $100 bottles of booze.

Had a couple of drinks with my nephew the 1st Shirt last night. I went for Balvenie Doublewood. Very tasty.

One of the bottles I'm currently drinking is the Highland Park 12 yr...I think a previous poster also mentioned this one.
Its an interesting one - normally, after a glass or two I have an opinion on the scotch I'm drinking. But with this one, it really was mixed. Honestly couldn't tell you whether I liked it or didn't...just different. But went back to it a few nights later and I found I enjoyed it more that time. I think its starting to grow on me; I can't say its my favourite by any means, that generally belongs to a Macallan, but I'd buy it again if I couldn't find a Macallan at that time (they're priced at a similar point). On a different note, one of the scotches I've tried that I would put close to the Macallans in terms of how I like it (just not for sale up here, had to get it from the States) is the Glenmorangie 18 year old (Extremely Rare label). But its pricey. Just in case M Six is looking to splurge sometime http://www.glenmorangie.com/our-whiskies/18-year-old |

I had a Glenmorangie 10 at Bemelman's the other night. It was good. They also had Macallan. I should have tried that.
