340i / B58 Engine Lag In Cold Weather

In cold weather (40 degrees and below), I notice a lag with the B58 engine.

Here's when I notice it:
1. Turn on my car and wait 20 secs before driving off (outdoor parking)
2. The first time I get to 2nd (or if it doesn't happen in 2nd gear when I get to 3rd), I notice a 1 second delay between 1500-2500 RPM.

I am not accelerating hard and am in comfort mode. I have a manual transmission.

Has anyone else with a 340i experienced this issue? Is it normal/expected?

It must be your first time driving in cold weather.

It's normal for all cars as your cars fluid are all thick from the cold and need to warm up, which is why people say to keep it below 2500-3000rpm for 15 minutes as it lets your transmission and oil lubricants to warm up and flow correctly.

Same here, and there have been a few other similar posts on this forum or another. Don't know notice the same thing in my other cars, but they are not a BMW or a 6cyl. Either way I always go easy on the throttle the first 10-15 minutes.

I had a 2009 E92 before this car and never experienced the same issue (as well as other cars). Though this is the first with a turbo if that has anything to do with it. But I don't rev pass 3000k on cold mornings. At least it's a little more reassuring that I'm not the only one. Thanks.

Is it leased? If so, who cares? Drive it like you stole it.

+1. It's BMW's problem at the end of the lease... (or rather some CPO buyer's problem).

Or you could treat your car properly regardless of whether you lease or own it..

Yeah, I just love pinheads who abuse their cars because they can. Idiotic and immature, IMHO.

I'll bet they even get a vindictive thrill whe someone writes in about a CPO car they are having trouble with.

My 335 is also a manual and I kinda feel the same thing.... I think it's the engine controller programming being soft about the boost when the motor/fluids are still cold.
