340i / B58 Engine Lag In Cold Weather
In cold weather (40 degrees and below), I notice a lag with the B58 engine.
Here's when I notice it: 1. Turn on my car and wait 20 secs before driving off (outdoor parking) 2. The first time I get to 2nd (or if it doesn't happen in 2nd gear when I get to 3rd), I notice a 1 second delay between 1500-2500 RPM. I am not accelerating hard and am in comfort mode. I have a manual transmission. Has anyone else with a 340i experienced this issue? Is it normal/expected? |

It's normal for all cars as your cars fluid are all thick from the cold and need to warm up, which is why people say to keep it below 2500-3000rpm for 15 minutes as it lets your transmission and oil lubricants to warm up and flow correctly. |

I had a 2009 E92 before this car and never experienced the same issue (as well as other cars). Though this is the first with a turbo if that has anything to do with it. But I don't rev pass 3000k on cold mornings. At least it's a little more reassuring that I'm not the only one. Thanks.

Is it leased? If so, who cares? Drive it like you stole it.

Or you could treat your car properly regardless of whether you lease or own it..

Yeah, I just love pinheads who abuse their cars because they can. Idiotic and immature, IMHO.
I'll bet they even get a vindictive thrill whe someone writes in about a CPO car they are having trouble with. |
