I'm looking for someone that has a newer GT to test something for me? I've been poking around the firmware files and noticed that BMW made a change to the way the smart opener works. Here are the comments in the firmware file:

8.1.1 Murat Demir
Smart Closer has been activated for F34 is based on email from H. Monn on 11.21.2013 (Remote Close Matrix v8).

So I'm looking for someone to test if you can close your tailgate with the smart opener. This is the feature that allows you use your leg to open the tailgate. You should be able to use the same method to close the tailgate. It looks as if this feature is in older GTs and can be activated by just coding.

If you're talking about the "foot operated" tailgate, then yes. It does allow you to open and close the rear tailgate solely via the foot operation.

That's great news, older GTs don't do this. What is your build date? You can find your build date by looking up your VIN here

Foot operated open/close feature is available in the premium package since the 2015 model year. Another relatively useful change in the 2015 model year was that 'bluetooth audio streaming' was made standard.
