In my car, this wasn't fixed (nor would it be fixable) by this update. This is, after all, probably just profile updates for phones.

However, I do believe this was fixed in my car by a complete reprogramming of the car my dealer did last week as part of a SIB "recall."

I can't be sure, but I believe this updated the car to ISTA/P level 48.1 or 48.2 (it's nearly impossible to figure out what level your car has).

Whatever the level, the only way this annoying problem will get fixed is if you can convince the dealer to reprogram the car. That's usually best done for some other problem or mandatory update BMW requires.

Who is your delivery specialist at the PC? There's a few BMW fans there (Jon Stribble comes to mind) so you shouldn't have too much trouble asking them to make sure the prep guys check your Nav software and update accordingly. The PC can get very busy at times, but I suspect they can handle it for you if you give them enough advance notice.

They haven't assigned me one, AFAIK. When I went to PCD 13 months ago, it was for ED redelivery. So, I didn't have a delivery specialist, and didn't realize i might be able to contact them prior to delivery.

I've got to visit my dealer shortly after I return home to pick up my inspection sticker, so I could always ask them to update. Assuming there is a newer version.

Call the PC and ask to speak with Jon Stribble. Great guy. See if he can do your delivery.

Dealer software updating can be a process. Especially for the AH3 as there aren't many. Usually takes them hours to get it done and in some cases they have to open a PUMA case.

Wow, my dealership said that they were able to apply the update in 45 minutes because every module updated in parallel. He says this has been unheard of until this car.

I'll get a screenshot of the new nav ver tomorrow morning -- I don't want to say it wrong and cause confusion.

Encouraging news. Maybe BMW is entering the 21st Century.

I have no idea what nav version the car came with. I recall seeing 2013 but I don't remember what the version number was. I wasn't expecting the iDrive system to be reprogrammed as well

Functionally, I don't notice any iDrive differences yet.

EDIT: work order says "PER SIB 61-36-12 PROGRAMMED COMPLETE VEHICLE WITH ISTA-P 2.48.2"

I know how to get a hold of him. Now that I know the latest version, I can request that he ensures it's on my car upon pick up.

Yeah just ask what ISTA-P version they are using. Rumors from the F10 forums are that there's now a 48.3, but who knows whether any of those changes are relevant to this car.

This will update all the software in your car that's out of date automatically, as the SIB calls for a "complete car" upgrade. No need to separately ask the dealer to check for additional updates. Originally my SA thought it'd only update the FEM, but it found a bunch of other modules out of date on my AH3 as well. I'm guessing those are hybrid specific modules.

Different graphics on display after update?

At the first service the entire car software was upgraded - I had previously updated just the Bluetooth software via USB downloads from the bmw website

I now have slightly different graphics on the 'full black screen' display that comes with Pro Nav, gear changes seem keener on the sports auto and the Nav software seems faster. A few new options have appeared in certain sub menus unless I did not notice them before
Kiforrest?

Can you explain what graphics are different after your service update please?
I'm trying to work out what version my UK 320d ED has.

Thanks,

Jim.

Well, the AH3 got several updated control modules with November production, so it would stand to reason that my car (11-20-12 build) will have all of those with updated software, and they're getting your car caught up.

Yeah that could very well be. Does your VIN have any outstanding recalls if you look it up?

It actually seems to work a lot better with Spotify over Bluetooth now. Obviously no album art, but the iDrive display does appear to actually "sync" with the iPhone properly by showing the correct song title-- even when I try to move forward rapidly. Prior to this update, the song on the iDrive screen would not always show the current song that was actually playing.
Not for me.. If I skip song in spotify rather quickly its stuck on previous song within playlist . If I change playlist it shows new one but again skipping song shows previous one

This sucks!

Downloaded onto a USB drive last night, updated car this morning, took less than 90 seconds...

Since however my album art now doesn't display. And no change in office. Still only get text messages if received after connected and for some reason I don't get an alert sound...
