I wonder if people driving with the variable sport steering are also having these issues.
Because if you ordered variable sport steering, the power steering module is not supplied by ZF. Instead ThyssenKrupp Presta Steering is building it. That's the one: http://www.thyssenkrupp-presta.com/s...rstuetzung.htm |

I would like to place an order for a 335i Sport Line soon, so I really would like to know the answer to this myself. I was planning on getting the dynamic handling package, so this would be good news if true. Regardless, I have informed my friendly neighborhood BMW retail center that I now know about this problem and that it will be difficult for me to place an order before this problem is resolved. If enough people did that... |

I have no issues with the steering wheel shaking but it feels like the car needs the tires rebalanced. Is this what everyone is feeling? Or is it actually in the steering wheel? Or both? It kinda annoys me that over 50mph (well into 100+) the car feels llike it needs a tire balance. My E90 didn't have this issue.

OMG. I ordered a 335 sport to lease for 3 years. Am I making a mistake? Reading this entire thread (and the biggest by far) makes me real nervous. I was looking forward to leasing this car... But now I'm not sure I will be happy? From reading this thread... Sounds like my car will be in the shop more than its on the road! Makes my '98 M3 (which btw was expensive to keep on the road for 14 years) sound like a dream compared to the current 335i, if you have the vibration problems.

Thank goodness. I figure I'll be covered anyway because I'm leasing and the factory warranty. The roads in LA suck so my drive shakes more than just my steering wheel. Tires, suspension, etc. My first lease and I can't wait.

I am returning my 328 becuase of the steering and getting the 335. people say the 335 has it, obviosuly not as many cases as the 328 since there are more 328s than 335;s by like 10 to 1 but i have read people who get the VSS(dhp) seem to not have the issue. i did not get that by i got m sport. good luck

Yeah, truly I'm not even really sure if mine has it? I might just be hypersensitive to it and its just normal road feedback, it wouldn't make sense that it would only happen on certain surfaces I dont think? Does your 328 shake all the time?

Yeah I agree, definitely the difference in the electric steering. I would say that mine is less than 90% for sure, plus it is soooo minimal. If I wasn't on the forum I wouldn't have ever known. I mean you can hardly see the wheel shake when it does, I mean I've literally seen the wheel go from no minute shake to shake on a transition of road surface. Is the visual shake on your 328 pretty discernible?

Gotcha, well thats good news for both of us then because mine is never bad, when it happens its barely noticeable. I really don't think I "have" the issue and I'm sure your won't either, I think that this steering is just how the 335 is. I've heard stories of people with 328s with shake so bad they can feel it fully with their hands on the wheel. Also I think when people say their 335s dont have the issue they just aren't as sensitive to it considering that someone in this post said earlier that he drove two 335s and neither had it so I'm going to go with the notion that mine doesn't have it either, rather just the way the 335 is. It'd seem like there'd be some subjectivity in determining how bad the issue is also.

No, my shaking is very noticable. Like on my E90 after hitting a pothole and bending a wheel or putting a large bulge in the tire and now needing replacement. Definately not road feedback. I'm going to see if I can get my wheels rebalanced when I bring it in for reprogramming (last driver settings kept and removing hill assist on the clutch).

I just bought a 328i last saturday, and I notice the steering vibration and the car pulls to the right too. Before reading this forum I went back to the dealer twice and bottom line they say that they can't do anything else to fix it. The car has been in service for the wheels rotated and balanced, also my ac makes a suction noise every time you turn it on when the car is warming up. This is my first BMW I love it but hate the fact that I have to live with this in my head, should I keep on asking the dealer to fix this? Is not the end of the world but I expected more from BMW. They have been really nice to me. Gave me some souvenirs and had a loner for a couple of days, while they were trying to fix this, they put the car in a special machine that measures the pressure on the wheels something like that. It's better but not perfect, my Toyota corolla didn't have this problem lol, I love BMW they way they drive, feel etc. what should I do?
