F30 Intercooler FMIC parade
Hey guys, so I've been searching for a good FMIC for my N20 F30 and came up with 4 products that happened to be different in several things, I will put links as well, so I need your help in deciding & even for debating which is better. ER claimed to get 15-25 whp depending on your modification, they said they will put a graph later.. no real dyno in any of the other products
so will I give up the huge weight difference and go for ER or get the lightest one of them. as it happens that I have the AA, AFE dp and both took off weight from mid & back of the car about 22 lbs, I also have strut, intake which adds 11 lbs front, so If I got the heaviest intercooler 20 lbs the car won't be balanced ? or it doesn't matter that much weight with added performance ?! any help appreciated Stock: volume: 72.93cm³ size: 510x130x110 mm weight: 7.3 lbs ......... ER (evolutionracewerk): volume: 10.815 cm³ size: 508x280x76 mm weight: 20 lbs whp: 15-25 degree difference: 40 Fahrenheit (23 Celsius) 70 Fahrenheit http://www.evolutionracewerks.com/node/258 ........ Wagner competition: Volume: 11.752 cm³ size: 520 x 210 x130 mm weight: 14.5 lbs whp: N/A degree difference: 22 Fahrenheit (12 Celsius) 72 Fahrenheit http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=932195 ...... ATM: volume: N/A size: N/A weight: 17.3 lbs (10 pounds over stock) whp: N/A degree difference: 32 Fahrenheit (18 Celsius) @55 Fahrenheit http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=955430 ........ Tuningwerk: volume: N/A size: N/A whp: N/A weight: 14.5 lbs http://www.tuningwerk.de/tuningwerk/...GtvlB1Xrqfq9W0 ........ Forge: Volume: N/A size: N/A weight: N/A whp: based on graph 10-15 avg degree difference: 50 Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) they claim 25 Celsius but I see it's 28 !! http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/con...ct=FMINT135F20 Last edited by rustyminded; 06-24-2014 at 03:32 AM.. |

Someone school me, intercoolers don't add 15-25whp, correct? They help retain that HP and combat power lost to heat soak...?
This is intriguing though. Watermeth will be on my short list, then maybe this. Does someone currently make WM kits for f30's? |

There are numerous companies selling meth kits. I don't believe it's auto specific. BMS sells a kit. |

I find it very hard to believe that an intercooler can give those kind of gains.
if the X axis is correct on that car (and each run was done on the same day) the stock intercooler is already heat soaked at 40 mph. I mean its possible, but not likely. I have never seen an intercooler alone give ~60-70 ft/lbs at low rpm |

that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying.
Thread jack how do you like your beta harness? Did you notice a lot of difference? Are you using the n55 cable? Are you stage 1 or 2? Do you also run Flex fuel wires? |
